Which would you prefer between just these 2. I will eventually be going to a 6 foot 30" deep tank. Thinking when I do that I will need 3 or 4 hydra 52s or 2 AP700s. Will be adding t5 with either choice.

Thoughts?

So what would you recommend for a 72"x24"x30" tank? Thats LxWxH. I was told I would need 4 hydra 52s. Considered AP700 because the coverage says 36" and still be good for SPS

Ap700
For a Mixed reef:
Coverage is 48"x24" hanging 15"-18" above water surface.
For an SPS dominant:
Coverage is 36"x24" hanging 5"-7" above water surface.
Max penetration is 24"-30"

Hydra 52s
36” x 36” for sps or mixed. 30"-36" depth

Here's something that's gonna be my opinion. I have a kessil a160 on my 25 gallon. And I have 2 hydra 26s on my 90 gallon with a 24" depth. Keep in mine 2 26s is equivalent to 1 52 because of 4 pucks. You have 2 pucks on the ap700 that are spread out to from each other to give you that extra coverage that kessil isn't given in the 360s. So they basically took 2 360s and put them on a unit and spread them apart. You still have that matrix led and have one light source. Now on the ap700 you do have wifi controllability and the new hydra 52 HDs have that also if your looking at the new models let me point out something. The hydra 52s HD dynamically adjusts power available to each color, borrowing power from the colors you’re not utilizing. So in other words if your 80 % white and not using full 100% and your 100% royal blue or something else. It'll take that left 20% that the white isn't using and make the royal blue 120% to make it brighter and stronger. I like that.

you will need 3 hydra 26's for a 6' tank.
I use 3 Hydra 26's on my 60" 120 gallon setup and it's more light than i could ever fully use.

blues are at 90%
whites at 40%
uv at 30%
red and green at 60%

my tank is LPS dominated with a few SPS.
