Ok I think I want a pair of clingfish a green line goby a Pygmy rooster wasp fish or geometric perchlet and a kamohara blenny and a pair of clowns (Tomato or bicintus) All the fish besides the clownw and blenny are small. I think the wasp fish guy gets a little bigger and it’s kinda costly so I’m leaning towards the perchlet or a different fish altogether.

What kind of corals and things should I get. I know I want gorgs mabye palyzoa brown buttons and like Xenia and Kenya tree. What softies come from shallower higher flow waters. Because I have a plateau for high flow stuff then a drop for low flow stuff in my scape

Alright new stock. Clownfish out the window. I’m making a clarkii clown to glue to my stand so I can have some kind of clarkii in my tank I’m gonna do a mckorsks wrasse a chalk bass a orange spot blenny a pair of clingfish then a goby (idk what kind would be the coolest in my tank, more active one would be best,I’m leaning towards the neon or mabye even a gudgeon dart fish I don’t know yet)

Is dosing super important? Or no. I might get like calcium blocks btuff showed and I will dose aquarium plant ferts if I get a lot of macros. but Im mainly gonna have caleurpa and random algae from Rocks. Also I might try like taxipholia

The thing about having an incline like that, is that if you have any inverts or fish that sift the sand (which you 100% need if you want to have a deepish sandbed), they will basically flatten/level the sand. You could use some rocks to kind of build a retaining wall, but in a 20g tank that’s not going to leave a lot room (if any) for the foreground. I suppose you could do a slope/drop-off from left to right (side to side).

If that second photo is truly your friends tank (I have to admit I’m more than a little dubious on that claim), they are not being honest with you. None of the animals look healthy. Do you see how rough and uneven the sponges exterior is? The gorgonians are missing tissue all over the place, the NPS Nepthea is retracted and falling over, the toadstool is shriveled and retracted, one of the red sponge’s arms is disintegrating (see the slime on the tip), literally none of them look good. None of the animals (except the fish) look healthy.

Also, sponges like that don’t come in on live rock, they just don’t. I’ve seen several of your posts where you say you’re going to just grow the coral that comes on your live rock. Even if you buy the freshest, most uncured live rock, it’s not going to come covered in corals. There may be a few small anemones, a few zoanthids or Palythoas, a mushroom or two, maybe even some small gorgonians, but it’s not going to have any stony corals or anything thing that stands up off the rocks. There may be some sponges, but they’ll be the encrusting kind, most liverock collectors (including the ones you mentioned) scrub a lot of the sponges off because they don’t ship well or survive curing and can kill everything else on the rock with the resulting ammonia spike. You’ll likely have some macros (halmeda is a common one from the vendors you’re looking at), some crabs, shrimp, maybe some urchins and brittle stars, but I think you’re over estimating the amount or life that will arrive on the rock, and more importantly that will survive curing.

It depends on what you want to keep, how much cal, alk, and trace elements your tanks inhabitants use, and how often you do water changes. In general, for softies you don’t need to dose of you’re doing regular and consistent water changes. Before getting any corals or anemones, you really need to get a functional understanding of basic reef chemistry.
