Okay, Here is the picture I took today with my phone. Not great quality. I could not also clean the back wall yesterday. Way too much stuff done on the tank at once. The white rocks are the new ones obviously. Some of the live ones were also bonded with the glue and sand method. Worked just like the dry rock.

The corals are still a bit angry and the clams had to be pulled for a pyramid snail check. Also, my sand creatures are not keeping up with the brown sand. Hate that stuff. Left side needs some growth of the corals to fill it out.

Looking back at this, most of my leathers have grown a lot in a short time. Even today, the tank looks so much better. The corals are open and happy. The fish are settled again. I will try to take a video. That seems to work best for me. :) Not now though unless you want to see just black.

Just wanna say once again Denise your tank is awesome and thanks for all the help you’ve given me. :)

I really like your stocking approach because it’s like the smaller fish all swim around the big fish and maybe the presence of the big fish makes the smaller ones group together more. :)

Keep it up! What are your tank’s dimensions again, it’s 84” x 24” right?

How do you manage to keep more than 1 pair (and different species) of Clowns together? And are Hogfish compatible with other wrasses?

Thanks guys. I am really liking the new layout of the tank and everything is growing now too. @Zionas, The tank is 84"x24"x24". The acrylic is 3/4" thick. Just so you know true dimensions. :)

Never ever have kept more than one pair of clowns in this tank over two years. Got to almost two years with two pairs a while back (old tank), but eventually, have to move one pair or at least the remaining one after one is killed (happened while I was on vacation once). Just will not work in a tank long term with most clowns. Eventually they see each other and the more fierce female will win out. Real bummer.

I would think the hogfish would be compatible with certain wrasses. I unfortunately never got to try as my hogfish did not make qt. Poor baby.

@Deezo, One of the best things about snorkeling the flats is watching the large wrasses and tangs. The wrasses (specifically the large dragon wrasses) will flip the rocks over to hunt and they are not small rocks. The are huge wrasses too.
The tangs are amazing just watching them pick and glide around.
Because of this, I could never put a larger tang in my system. Nor those nice large wrasses. Just did not seem right. The little guys sure. Love the little bluish yellow damsels in Kauai that are everywhere. Such protective little guys. Funny. Do not know the species or I would have looked for those. :)

Those are some really nice dimensions and I would love to have a bigger tank like you someday. :) Thanks for clarifying about the Clowns, I was just curious to know about your experience with keeping more than a pair. .) I heard you got a new Yellow Candy Hogfish right? How’s that working out for you? xD

If you can send a photo of the damsels you saw in Hawaii, would be really helpful maybe I can help you look for the exact species. :)

And yeah as for the Tangs and larger wrasses which ones do you think are the most suitable for our systems and which ones are best left in the wild?

Good luck as always and I really hope I can get started soon! :( If not for Covid.

Well, folks. I have a huge coral order coming in next week. Most of it is for the traveling kids tank. It will befull of cyphatrea and encrusting montis. I will also put in some movement from torch or frogspawn I have. I went this route to show the kids the colors on the reef. They love to put colored glasses on and see the florescence on the corals. I thinks this will be a big bang for the buck.

I also got a couple corals for me. A japanese tree coral (I have one and love it), a weeping willow (green) as I do not have that style of toadstool, and some more maxi mini nems. Could not pass up the 50% off sale. I mean these were gorgeous for only $15-$20. I am a sucker for these nems.

I will get pictures when they arrive late next week.

I have fallen for them due to ease of care and just the movement and textures. Colors are nice too when available. They can cause issues with lps corals. Especially the fleshy ones. Just so you are aware. My lps are in a different system completely. :)

I have tons of frags of the devils hand (it likes to drop them often). As my others grow, I sometimes get frags too. Maybe we can meet up at a swap in the far future. The way the world is going. :)
