If you can get your hands to the base, then generally it will rip off the rock its mounted to.
Otherwise a new/sharp razor blade and just slice them off as close to the rock as possible.
Just be careful with any polyps that escape, as these can re-grow a whole new one! I tend to turn off pumps and wavemakers so there is no flow.
Cheers mate, thought this may be the way.
Only leaving them there at the moment because I don't have the money to throw at more corals to back fill the space it'll leave :P

Sounds like a good plan, just be carefull it doesnt take over! Cannot believe how fast it grows in mine.

I gave all of this away over the last week now, its a good coral for new reefers to try out, and saves me feeling bad throwing it in the bin!

I'm heading to Sydney at the end of this week, but we are driving over a few days, otherwise I would package some corals for you! (Need to do this when i'm flying instead)

Yeah it's already everywhere at the moment, definitely makes the tank look more alive but I can see that it'll get annoying before long and I can fully understand some of those tank pics you see where people have had it get out of hand. Gotta do an update on my thread, maybe in the next few days (work's been mental).

Hope you enjoy your trip! Might have to take you up on that one day LOL

Prepping to head interstate for 2 weeks, I didnt want to have to get our house sitter to fill the auto top off chamber - not that its hard, but it could 'go wrong' in some way...and until I can re-plumb my RODI unit into my Garage which is behind the tank, I cannot set it to fill automatically (one of the jobs for the new year).

Looking around, I managed find a local reefer who was selling a 250L Hmahli RODI Chamber cheap, the only catch is that it was an hours drive away.

Yesterday finally managed to get out there and pick this up - then I installed it into my garage that evening.
I had planned ahead and bought extensions for the sensors on the RODI unit i'm using from Amazon a couple of weeks ago.

If full, this will give me about 40 days of water. More than enough for travelling.

Nice! Definitely better when people are minding the place that they don't have to tinker with anything. It's a huge learning curve for most of us as it is let alone someone who's staying for a couple weeks!

Looks like a pretty cool RODI tank though.

Yeah I dont even like them cleaning the glass! Way too easy to mess up and scratch it.

The tank was a Bargain! Its huge though, 600x600x700mm square, doesnt fit in the cabinets under the tank!
But...the entire filtration/sump is eventually going to find its way into the garage I think. Will make it so much easier to do maintenance and things.
Plus I could then run another frag tank under my tank if i really wanted to... 😀

LOL any excuse to add more tanks.
Go a full double decker tank set up !! I'll admit, I'd love to move some of my stuff into the garage but I've got too much stuff and not enough space in there as it is!

That is what I was thinking! 😀

Although I'm torn still between that and just changing out the tank completely, so it'll be one or the other.
Probably depends on the Unicorn Tang in the end...would be a lot easier just to re-home her.

And I am back from 2 weeks away!
Happy new year everyone. Thankfully the tank was pretty much in cruise control when i was away.
Couple of the MP40's lost their covers (they seem to randomly vibrate loose, maybe i need to change the rubber seal on them), and my Red Dragon randomly bleached about 50% of it - funny thing is that i know of 2 other tanks who also had the same thing happen around the same time.
Glass was filthy, took ages to scrape it clean, but all my levels are testing food excepts for Alk which seems to have dropped to just under 7...so need to slowly bring that up and re-test just to make sure its not wrong.

Brought back 14 new corals from Victoria...so stay posted!

Got some time today to put my custom frag rack I had cut together.
Had to trim the pieces to size, and rebate (Rabbit for you US readers) the pieces togethers, and run a groove to fit the white racking pieces in.
Once it was all dry fitted, I used acrylic weld to put it all together, and have taped it all and left to sit for a day or so.
Once this is dry, i'll pre-soak it in some containers before getting into the Frag tank.
The egg crate currently in the frag tank is full of different types of Zoa's, so not sure if I should sell it off, or try to frag some out of it (don't really want the new rack full of them!)

New frag rack is in - tank is much more organised now.

Thought I would share my parameters from after being away for 2 weeks - my Alk is running a little low, but all others are bang on. Will be interesting to see if these now start to elevate now that I am back.

Also you can see on my Reefmatt usage how dirty the glass was when I returned!

Love how handy you are with DIY'ing stuff for your tank, love seeing that kind of thing especially when it looks like a professional finish by the end of it. Glad to hear your tank was mostly fine after getting back from your trip away. I'm sure you'll get the tank humming along perfectly again in no time!

I definitely need to work on keeping my glass cleaner. I've got one of those large flipper glass cleaners but I feel like it doesn't do a great job. I've changed the blade a couple times over the years and even bought another glass cleaner with a super long handle to clean the back wall which seems decent but the handle is too long to be effective cleaning every bit of glass around the tank lol.

I have one of the flippers and it works ok for me? Do you have the largest size, it may be that you need the one with the stronger magnet.
Actually have one of the long handle ones also for cleaning the back wall, and attempted it the other week but the coraline is so thick on there the blade broke! Planning on getting an industrial scraper for that part!
