225g CDA SPS dream build

Yes. I never stopped water changes entirely but I slowed them (laziness ). Now I’m back to closer to weekly. Filter socks all the time

The tank is becoming a frag farm at this point. I’m not taking the time to move frags as fast as they’re growing. Sounds like bragging but it’s a real problem haha. Coral warfare and the effort in trimming is getting to be serious.

Show off!! Seriously though beautiful reef. I’d take some frags from you if we were closer

Wow that is amazing! I’ve always wanted a desjardii and yours is beautiful! I also love the trio of pyramid butterflies. 👍😍

Awesome. Forgot you’re in Monterey. I visit regularly to see my daughter. I live up in discovery bay. Might have swing by and see the tank some time.

Through the winter I neglected the tank a bit during my duck hunting activities. This seems to be my annual struggle. Once off kilter it’s very hard to right the ship at this point. I’m working to get nutrients back down but the algae got the better of a lot of my acros this spring even after I kicked into high gear on increased maintenance and water changes. I’ve lost some of my favorites but most are hanging in there and no fish losses I believe. I’m slowly getting the phosphate down though my nitrates were fine at last check. My alk swings were the most destructive part when I would neglect testing. An automatic alk tester would have saved the day for me but I’m being too stingy on it and am paying in other ways for my cheapness. Im still dealing with lots of coral warfare and need to increase my fragging and removal of entire colonies which I hope to do soon.
Pics are from various times since January. I did add a new Kleini butterflyfish from High Tide Aquatics who went to work on my aiptasia problem but also picks a lot at my acros.

Kleini had to go! Sucker ate a hole into the side of my full size yellow belly blue tang. He had been picking at him like feeding on his wound site from lymphocystis and ate through his outer tissue to his muscle layer. I’m so mad! Luckily my wife caught him with our floating trap as he was so aggressive and he’s been passed on to a more suitable tank to eat up aiptasia to his hearts content. Pass on Kleini butterflies!

Tank has continued to lose coral while others thrive. I decided to pull the UV and dose interceptor. We will see if it has an effect. Time for another ICP. Major elements are fine from today’s test. My wife’s classroom tank is doing great though
