Hi, I have a 20 gallon high switching to 29 or what some considered a 30 I have 2 clowns, and a indigo dottyback. Any ideas if I could put like one more fish. And I know the dottyback, but she was a rescue she got beaten by a fish and doesn’t even try to harm anything.

You have room for 2-3 more small fish depending on filtration and if the dottyback is as calm as you say it is.

I had 2 clowns, a hawkfish, a dwarf angel, and a royal gramma in my 29g.

It's less # or size of additional fish, more what type of fish.

Dottys and clowns are all territorial so if you want another fish that is active and swims everywhere, 1 more is likely the most you can have. If you get more docile ones, you can probably get 2 or 3 more

For example, potential additions can be:

1) pick one: coral beauty, 6 line wrass, pigmy cherub

Or

2) pick two: firefish, basslets like purple or royal gramma (might fight your dotty depending on your rockwork), watchman gobie, banggai,.

OR

3) Pick three: pick two above + one of: cleaner gobe, sandsifting goby.

This will push your tank to the max.

Okay thanks

Hey, I also have two clownfish and a dotty back in a 29-gallon. The dotty back is very tame, and I don't think it is too territorial. I might also add a coral beauty, a Valentini puffer, and one firefish. I have many corals, but they are all softies, so I think they won't nip at them.

Okay

You can get a valentini puffer if you don't have any inverts.
So how much more fish could I have if I got rid of dottyback? I’ve been thinking about it for a while, I have a friend who has a Couple 180 and 200 gallon tanks who wants her and I want to avoid fish aggression as the more comfortable she gets the more aggressive she seems to get. But if I got rid of her could I have 1 more fish I got a damsel and she’s okay with him or she, I still want a dwarf angel, and possibly a goby if she’s gone could I do one more?

After you get a dwarf angel and goby you have room for 1-2 fish depending on what they are.
