So, last year I upgraded from a 70g display tank to a IM 200g peninsula display. I used to use two 20g Brute trash cans to mix up 14g of salt water for a 20% water change with the 70g system. That won’t cut-it with a 200g tank. So I constructed a new mixing station. Because I wanted to have a designated container of fresh salt water for my auto water change system, I decide to add a third container for mixing. I know it is absolutely unnecessary. However, I feel it just makes my life easier when it’s time to mix up a fresh batch of water.

I also added a cool little 3-way pool valve to redirect water for manual water changes and a check valve when I realized there was backwash from my salt water into my frest RODI container.

What do you folks think?
3 tanks are totally unnecessary and a waste, or the 3-tanks design is innovative and brilliant! 😜

Here are a few pics, but I also created a short video: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/15fRb58grZ/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I like it. My station that I am setting up is 4 barrels. 2x60g & 2x35g

The 60s are fresh R/o and salt mix with pump etc, Like most peoples stations. Then under it I have a 35 with fresh R/o for my gravity fed ATO and filling other tanks. The other 35G is kalkwasser for my big system.

The rodi output is "T" to both fresh water barrels with float valves on each, both have shut offs before the barrel so it doesn't fill till I want it to. then has a float valves to shut it off( if i forget)

These are two completely separate system though. I just like having at least 120G of water either mixed or ready to mix in case of emergency on my 380G system. Still in the building stage, Wife doesn't understand the need.

My tank is currently going thru 4 gallons a day evap and once I get kalk back online I will be pushing approx 2G/ day the rest of evap will be fed via ATO.

I am tired of carrying 5G buckets

I mix and pull for my AWC from the same tank, so only a two tank system, but if something works for you, that it works for you is the most important part of the setup.

Nice work on the valve, and I have found running the same return pump as my display, on the mixing system, allows for a 'hot swap' should the need arise. As well, one thing worth while depending on the salt mix, run a 5 micron sediment filter inline of your salt mixing. It will pull out quite a bit of the binder crud, again depending on the salt mix used.
