A quick run down of the specs on this.I started with a 14 gal biocube in dec of 08 and got hooked on the hobby.I modded and stocked my cube very heavy with lps some soft corals a crocea and rbta under a 70mh sunpod with great results.I then needed more space for my rbta as i was getting little scared that it would soon be able to take out anything in tank with little more growth.So then came the 30 breeder build.


30 gal breeder aga
Black pine stand
tek 4 bulb t5 setup
2 koralia 2's
1 current subcurrent filter running filter floss and little chemi pure
35 ish lbs live rock
50 lbs or so live sand.
All snail cuc
2 false percs one black and one reg
yellow watchman/Japanese pistol shrimp pair
bi color blenny
5 chromis.These may go soon if bioload is too much.Will see though
Blue sided fairy wrasse
med size rbta
lots of lps and a few soft corals

I plan to try and run this tank as basic as i can.No sump,big filters etc.I wanna see if i can keep a stable simple setup like this.I know im heavy on fish and if any signs of stress or biolaod the chromis may come out.

My bothers duncans that he gave to me to see if can do cpr on.We got the frags same time from same person.He even got the bigger frag with 1 or 2 more heads......Which one you think doing better?

wow looks great! i am in the process of my 30 breeder build, so far i got a basic stand, tank, and 6x39 nova extreme pro. i'm gona transfer all my livestock from my jbj 28 gal nc..do your t5s produce a lot of heat? are you just using live rock and flow for filtration? how's that working for you?

Thanks.They do make some heat.I was running a glass top but temps were like 84 at peak so i made the top below and now temps stay around 78-79 and my heater comes on even sometimes.For filtration im only using the a current subcurrent filter with filter floss and chemipure inside it along with the Lr.Its working very well so far.I do 5 gal water changes every week.Also the 6x39 might be over kill as i hear many saying too much on the taller 40 breeders.Some remove 2 bulbs out of the 6 bulb fixtures.Just what i have seen on the many boards.

well i got sick of my stupid glass top for many many reasons and made this up today.Way nicer :D still have some work to do on making lexan pieces to cover back area a bit in next day or so.

the setup that i purchased used to be a friends frag tank..he never had a problem..its only 234 watts.

do you plan to keep only sps or? Not saying it wont work but people said that corals did better when they pulled two bulbs etc.Some sold off the 6 bulb and went to a 4 bulb fixture even.Imo its over kill also after seeing growth in my tank with a 4 bulb.Also what bulbs was he using?

Looks good to me. With a 5 gallon a week water change I think you will be fine.....Sure looks like your missing something in there....Think maybe you need a clam :tongue:

got that skimmer yet but playing around with in another tank right now for certain reasons.


Oh and you son of a..........Im gonna find out where you live jk.Lol who knew that clams would be so hard to find after i gave a certain one away.
