Well amnonia still reading 2ppm on api test kit and nitrite was 0.25 for long time but 3 days ago was 0.50 and now it 1ppm so im now doubting that it even cycled lol and it doing its cycle thing now as nitrite rising but clown fish in qt for 3 more weeks so got time for it to sort itself out.
The mrs mum and her husband going through a seperation so Chris ( mrs mum husband) was forced to move into his sons girlfriend house that renting but she living with his son so house empty so he took over the rent.his son big on fish, mainly freshwater cichlids and got lots rock/ pebbles ( like bags of it) which was left in the house.well he found a led light in the house without a plug and wiring coming out the switch so be getting this for nothing soon so going try see if can buy new switch and put plug on and re- wire the switch and hopefully works then hey presto saved at least £ 100 on new led light.as was going buy one when get corals in tank, ovbiously dont know what lights they are at moment, but hopefully when get them they have make/ model number and can research if the lights spectrum etc any good for corals as guess they bought for freshwater fish.or if get working put them above tank along with the t5's in hood and start off low then ramp them up and see what happens i guess ^_^

4 short videos above i have no clue what they are,so if anyone reading this got any clue please let us know, thanks.
Im thinking it either part of ugly stage,
Some of the flakes that got snagged on the rocks and slowly decomposing.but havent ghost fed ( added flake food) for 5- 6 weeks now so ummm.
One the videos that in a cave at bottom was first i noticed and is biggest at first glance reminded me of a anemone lol, like clear/translutant nearly and waving all over.but used dry rock/dry sand and only thinfs added in tanks 7 week life is flake food/ amnonian chloride and seachem stability.
I have stuff like this on alot of the rocks and can only just see them with naked eye ( apart from the one in cave, which maybe 1-1.5 cm
Maybe ugly stage?
Maybe flakes decomposing?
Maybe bacterial bloom?
And maybe another thing begginning with a " c" hut forget name lol

calothrix is the name im thinking of and says get right cuc to eat it so need find out which cuc eat it and would be ok to get fed pellets/ flake/frozen food as no visable signs of algae on my rocks yet.
Says calothrix likes low flow so this makes sense as in large cave and few indents in rock it is mostly.and turned my controllers for power heads down to 20% few wewks ago and only turned back upto 80% last week.so hoping this calothrix is wgat it is and just part of ugly stage and stabilises shortly.i use rodi water and tds of 0 so probably phosphates/ silicates in the rocks/ sand it feeding off ( i didnt rinse the sand before use ) and read calothrix is a expert as getting phospates and silica from inside the rocks and sand so ummm

Well roughly 7 weeks i would say now for dt since first added water and added few flake food,i got told couple weeks back my dt cycled as i added flake food plus bottle of seachem stability ( which i believe the guy as seems he being doing so much research on new cycling methods) and one thing he says to people is dont test as makes you doubt yourself and want to buy some more bottle bacteria to rectify a problem we not even got ( apart from if water cloudy/ smell amnonia etc etc, fish behaviour bad ,etc) well last week been tasting some chemical in back my throat,( cant smell as got polyups up nose and nose always blocked)turns out i think neighbour in next block poured 25 litre container petrol all over wooden bin shed plus around 1 months of rubbish that bin men wouldnt take,so long story short rang council, they got fire brigade and they doused it with fire hose for 30 minutes ( just spread petrol all over car park) as i got copd and bad nose im thinking my sense of taste hightened as cant smell and reason why mrs and other neighbours couldnt smell it.housing moved 3/4 rubbish but still getting taste in throat so thinking it tje other 1/4 rubbiah still got petrol on as when rained seen petrol run off.then im thinking amnonia in tank ( but went for a sleep study last night other side of city and could still taste chemical in throat,so doubt im smelling petrol from 8 miles away ha ha,maybe got chest infection idk.
But anyway im rambling on,i tested dt again just now with api test kit 1ppm amnonia......2ppm nitrite....30-40 ppm nitrate so since maybe 5 days ago amnonia 2ppm- 1ppm..nitrite 1ppm-2ppm and nitrate much higher than ever been so now im defo doubting cycle has ecen cycled as im getting readings that would expect near begginning of cycle ( nitrate could be that high as nitrite high) so wanting to but some doctor tims one and only ( my reasoning is seachem stability which says for fresh and salt water,im remembering watching doctor tims videos and he saying there is different bacteria that we use in salt water than fresh water so im thinking seachem stabilty cant be both) but then sensible side my head saying ive read a aquarium will cycle by itself if no food/shrimp/ amnonia source added on its own in 2 months which im near to that date so save mysekf £30 and not buy doctor tims.and i was going buy few snails/shrimp on monday but now dont want risk kill them.so when i got told dont test as will make you doubt yourself, why the hell i not listen ha ha

Sorry double post above lol.
Maybe i could taste petrol, maybe not idk as no doctor ^_^ but doesnt explain why taste from 8 miles away ha,maybe chest infection, maybe just imagining it but strange how suddenly got taste then few days later find empty 25 litre can petrol and rubbish all poured over so who knows but hopefully council remove all rest rubbish and clean/ soak up all petrol still in bin shed floor/ wood.was bank holiday sunday when first rang but rang again yesterday to explain having trouble breathing and fire brigade says they only temporary hosed with water and it needs good clean up.so hopefully gets resolved ^_^

Well been 4 days since last amnonia test.
Was 1-2ppm on api test.
And now reading between 0.25- 0.50 at first glance but it inbetween yellow ( 0ppm amd 0.25 ppm) and it 9.30 pm so using artificial light so looks darker than daylight.so will test tommorrow in the day but it been roughly 8 weeks since first added water so should cycle naturally on its own i been told .but amnonia is showing different colour on downwards trajectory so this makes me happy ^_^ even if api tests get so much bad press.
Which i know on a freshwater tank once it shown 0.25 ppm amnonia for years lol.

Anyway been over 3 days since added the 3 scarlet red legged hermits and they still alive.tried getting some nori from chinese supermarket earlier but they never heard of it.said got some dried seaweed but ingrediants was chilli extracts and couple things like this so as not 100% seaweed decided against buying.ordered some oceans nutrient or something earlier so should be here tommorrow ( had to pay 4 times more as got fish on packaging lol )

This stuff and got it for the crabs.as used all dry rock so no apparent algaes on the rocks apart from cyano bacteria ( calothrix looks like, and hermits defo eating something from the rocks.i tried some 1mm pellets i bought for clownfish but they dont seem to be touching that.even tried some algae pellets i once bought for a pleco i had and not sure if eating it or not as went out house and now dont know where it is lol.
When get these algae sheets tommorrow i will use elastic band around small rock till buy a proper magnet clip.
Bought myself a 55 cm coral feeder pipette thingy me job yesterday also to spot feed these crabbies ^_^

Well looks closer to yellow than lime green in natural daylight

I know api gets some bad rap and alot saying incorrect readings but seems to be giving readings of what a cycle would look like in these last 2 weeks.
Amnonia rises and then nitrite rises then amnonia falls and nitrates rise.but anyhow things going ok so far ^_^

And just did water change on dt and qt tank.
Thought i test amnonia in saltwater mixing container.mixed for 36 hours and 0.25 ppm.
Need research if newly mixed saltwater can show amnonia ( something to do with something in the chemical process/ or what's added when manufactured i once read and is normal i once read i think) so if anyone knows about this please leave a short reply or a link if you dont mind thanks.^_^
I checked some rodi water out of the 25 litre container i used and amnonia 0ppm so the 0.25 ppm is coming from after added the salt.

Video above of the 2 hermit shells takes 30 seconds of so to load and is intermittent once plays so hopefully this video i uploaded to you tube is better.
Best case scenario these fanworms survive and some replicate and get themselves tucked in the rocks in high flow areas of tank as they good little filter feeders and bit more interest for the tank ( if grow bigger than are now lol.)

For anyone reading this who interested or has got amnonia reading from freshly made salt mix.
I just did a roughly just over 10% water change on my dt with this 0.25 ppm amnonia reading ( 35 litres on probably a 300 true water volume system after displacement of sand/ rocks.and waited about one hour and even though my system newly cycled and only just started showing 0ppm on a api test kit in last few days.after 1 hour of new wc water mixing in dt,my beneficial bacteria quickly converted it and test kit now showing 0ppm so all good especially in well established tanks hey
