OK so I have been curing some rock 100 pounds of Marco and 100 pounds of live rock for 4 weeks now and the cycle has completed. I have been doing this in a 300 gallon Rubbermaid horse tub and the big move is this Sunday. I am scared to death of losing my corals and such so I need some help or advice.
The rock is cured, I have added some snails crabs, and brittle stars to the sand and rock tub I have also been adding my water change water from the 110 gallon to this tub at a rate of 30 gallons a week. So there is around 150 gallon or so of cycled water in it with FSW to makeup the rest
My plan is as follows......
Saturday night around 8pm I will get the 100 gallon Rubbermaid tub out and drain the water from my established 110, in it will go all of my rock with corals on it and fish, the remaining rock will go into the 300 gallon troff. I will keep a powerhead and heater in it with a small bubble stone to keep O2 up in there for the fish. After this I am going to verify that the water in the 300 gallon Rubbermaid troff matches the 110.
Sunday morning the 110 will be cleaned as it has been sold and I plan on scraping all Coraline algae off of it and adding it to the new tank. After that I am going to be bringing in the 300 and setting it up. I will add the new rinsed sand and start to add water, I am going to add a layer of plastic on top of the sand to try and keep from stirring up the sand. I will be filling with the cycled water and rock from the 300 gallon Rubbermaid troff, and add the fish.
Then start it all up and PRAY......
What do you all think of this tank transfer plan. All feedback and criticism is requested.
