Hey guys,

I'm internally debating the following two options for my 24x24x12 tank. I'd love some input. I have no plans for sps. I do want nems and lps.

2-AI Prime 16hds

Or

1-Kessil A360X

I like the kessil ease of use on the logic color spectrum. Does the prime have to be set manually or do they have an auto spectrum.

The two primes would give me 120w and the single kessil would be 90w, correct?

Thanks!

I don't think you need 2 primes. 1 prime covers a maximum of 24x24 and you are not planning on getting sps so that should be fine. As for the color question, you have to set it or use a preset program from their website.

I have to say I am a big fan of the kessil white bands. You can't go wrong with either.

Interesting! Thanks for the response.

I didn't think one prime would get it done. So that could be a decent savings.

I know the kessil shimmers better. Wonder if the kessil quality is worth the price difference in this case.

You could save money and get an a360we but the x is the newest version. Kessil is pricey but are definitely unique. I

Depending on aquascape and coral placement a single or possibly two Kessil 160's would be fine for a 12" tall tank. I ran them for the past 4 years on my 80 gal. Never exceeded 60% intensity and it supported my LPS just fine. The only nem I have is a rock flower and he is perfectly healthy. FWIW I recently changed to Noopsyche lighting, much more powerful than the 160 and a lot cheaper too. Working well so far and I see no reason not to endorse them.

Ai prime installed and app downloaded.

I won't start running a lighting cycle until approximately 2 months from now. So I have time to learn and program a schedule. Really glad I went with this light. Certainly seems to throw enough light.

I have access to a par meter from work, but it's not water proof. Wonder how accurate of a reading i would get with it in a ziploc bag. Haha
