32 Biocube rimless Conversion safe?

hey guys i picked up a biocube a few weeks ago from a stray, for dirt cheap was looking online people convert the cube into a rimless style which looks pretty awesome, how safe is the tank if you meaning it wont blow out into my room haha, i have the older version with the T5 lights not the LED hood ill be using a AI Prime HD on it so the hood isnt needed for me any suggestions

only be cutting the top border off to the filter section.
