I am thinking about making the switch over from halide to LED. Just seems like the price point and technology are in the right places now. My tank is a rimless 36x24x24 that currently runs 2x250w SE in lumenbright reflectors and 2 3 foot VHO tubes for actinic. I'd like to keep the same par or more and I'd also like to keep the dawn/dusk effect I get with the actinics. I'd also like to keep the price under 1k. I love the acan lighting fixture but don't have the 2k to spend on it. I was looking at reefkoi and lukes fixtures as options.

I'd love to hear any suggestions.

Tagging along. I am in the process of picking out new equipment for a tank very similar in size.

Seems like all the comparisons are 2 foot, 4 foot, and 6 foot tanks. 3 footers get no love. :)

I got a 3 footer, lit by an illuminarium 120w LED fixutre with a 36 inch RB blue. Tank is 36x18x25 SPS/Chalice/Acan

Easily done if you DIY.

Two 24"x8.46" heatsinks with a total of 108 3 watt XR-E LEDs driven at 700mA would work and will give you close to the PAR of your current setup.

reefkoi and lukes are also viable options with great results if you dont DIY.
