40 ppt salinity how to bring down

If you by a fish and bring it home . The water in the bag is low salinity most of the time I have seen 1.015 from my local petco. You want me to acclimate that fish for 48 hours? You are my hero!!!

Simply take a large cup and bail out water. Replace with RODI water sane temp as display tank. Repeat until you reach desired salinity.
When is the last time your gage was calibrated ? (in case youre getting false readings)

They are at 40 put you want them to go up?
Sorry, I thought you said take an hour to raise fish from 1.018 to 1.025, and that is too fast to do safely. You can drop fish that fast though.

No - you need to match your receiving tank to the incoming specific gravity, acclimate the fish for temperature and pH and then gradually raise the specific gravity of the fish in the tank over 48 hours.
