I thought about doing that but I wanted the extra length so my five section would be a little longer. I am thinking about growing Mangroves in their at some point and I was afraid the 20 tall might be too tall for that in my stand.
Luckily my stand was plenty tall. I would've rather had a 20g long, but the stand was already built. The good thing about the taller sump is more room above the baffles to prevent overflow.

Ok so finally updating my thread. I wish it would have been sooner but I finished my first semester of nursing school and have been applying to jobs like crazy all summer. Then I wrecked my truck so it has been crazy and everything got put on delay. I have dry fit my drains plumbing and marked it so it goes back the same way. I am going to wait on return plumbing till I have the pump because I am going to be using flexible tubing to the PVC. I haven't put the final down pipes into the sump yet because I want to wait until I make my filter sock holder. I also thought it would be a good idea to wait on this until I make a final determination on the skimmer I am going to use so I know how deep my water will be in that section. If anyone sees anything wrong with my plumbing or my line of thinking please let me know since this is all still dry fit together.
