I have a Red Sea 525xl g2 and a nuvo 15 plummed to the same sump. I estimate a total of 145gls.

I purchased a huge aqua ultra 40w classic UV and had to cut out a hole in the dividing compartment to fit this giant thing!

I’ve been reading on flow rates and I just can’t wrap my brain around the proper flow.

My current return pump is a Sicce 7.0 and it’s at the lowest gph (800gph) prior to all the 90* elbows to make this work. I would guess I’m somewhere around 725ghp once it makes its way to the display tank.

I found this chart and not sure which flow to use, the classic 40w at 90,000 ųw/cm2 or 150 tank volume at 90,000 ųw/cm2?
I assumed UV size but now I’m second guessing myself as I’ve had the UV setup for a month with minimal results.
New bulb & sleeve.

Sorry for the eye sore, just getting over being sick and haven’t cleaned the sump ugliness.

Those kill density flow rates should be explained (as to what they are effective for) somewhere else in the manual.

Some rates are for algae, others for free floating paracytes, cysts, and target organisms that will all die from different exposure levels.

If your's is not working, slow down the flow until it does.

Auquaulyra replied to me and said I should be about 400gph. Dang, might of purchased a 40w UV for nothing haha.
I guess I need to find a smaller dc pump that’s at 400gph on low so I can crank it to max when I’m done.
