Welcome aboard from another old guy (40). I believe the age cutoff here is normally 39 but they have been known to make a few exceptions. ;)

Funny how that starting small thing works, eh? Yeah I'll just put this nano cube on the kitchen counter for now, then before you know it BOOM you've got a full reef setup that you could feasibly spend an afternoon inside with the proper scuba gear.

Welcome aboard. Batting nitrates is normal in a new tank (sometimes in an established tank too) but once your bacteria populate every crevice possible in the tank, things start to regulate. It’s normal and why it’s advised not to rush by adding too much at once. Take it easy, sit back and watch the tank grow.
