I have alway wanted to do a build thread but with this tank taking over two years to put together from start to now it would have been a borring thread some of you have been hereing about this tank for a long time i refinanced my house 3 years ago this july and figured 5000.00 dollars would be enough boy was I wrong {again} i bought all the stuff through the living art aquarium in St. George Utah it is owned by my brother Tracy Evans and want to thank him greatly for with out him this would have never got done he has give up many weekends and a lot of time dealing with this stuff for me. but for anybody that has delt with tracy you know that is the way he is giving up his time to help others.
the tank houses 210 lbs of prem white araganite sugar sand and over 550 lbs of prem. tonga deepwater rock which is all very large to XL peices spec. ordered by the living art aquarium and thanks to tracy's rock stacking abilty it is totaly awsome rock work with large swim throughs, caves, arches and alot of flat places to stack acros.
the tank is 3/4 glass 8'x3'x30" it had 3 braces across the top with the center being about 2' across which has always drove me nuts so i decided to cut out the top brace and build a 316 grade stainless steel frame and have it powered coated so away i went peeled the trim, cut out the brace and built the frame then siliconed the top to the glass with the same silicone used by the manuf.
the system will be sps dominate there for I needed a lot of flow I am running 5 darts 3 closed loop and 2 open loop it has 2 Ocean motions and 6 rev's and soon to have 2 more Ocean motions devices in the works there will be arround 15-17,000 GPH of water movement about 25 times turn over
there is 1-110 gal sump and 1-110 gal refuguem that will be bulk headed together and a G-6 skimmer or well enough talk please see members gallerys for pics sorry dont know how to post here Thanks
