Will 2x ai hydra 52hd be enough lighting for my tank? 48x24x24 I also have a 2 bulb t5 aquatic life light I could add if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Yes, two Hydra 52's would cover that footprint :)

it would work but they would be sideways and your corals would do best right in the middle of the tank with lots of dead spots. they are meant to be used front to back to covers the length so just make sure your favorite stuff is closest to the hot spots. I would say add a third when you can afford it to be happy with coverage. Ive used Hydras on my last three buils. I use 4 hydra 26 hd now on a red sea 625xxl and will be adding t5's or upgrading to 4 52's

Awesome, thanks so much. I will look into buying a 3rd or another light to help deadspots. I do have a few other led lights I could use supplementally on the edges also.

What are you going to keep? For a mixed reef or tanks without huge colonies, then yes. For huge colonies or lots of large SPS, then no way.

It is pretty common to start with just those lights, then the T5s and more units get added as stuff grows and the shadows come.
