Hi yall,

After some break I’m back to the hobby. 6 gallon, maxspect lamp, live rock from Indonesia, tank started today. My plan is to only keep some soft corals and maybe some hermit crab, though I already have some other crabs coming out of my live rock :)

Thank you :) I noticed that there are 2-3 bumblebee snails, which I believe is a good news. But they’re very very tiny. Also, I saw such shrimp, does anyone know what’s that?

She looks so angry 😅

Do I need to feed it with something? I just added an algae waffle and I have some little pellets for shrimps (from my freshwater tank). Will it survive?
Frozen food would be best, like mysis or other commercial frozen foods. A sheet of mysis is like $7 at petco and I would assume the mantis only needs like 1/4 cube a day (But I’m not a mantis shrimp expert)

Exciting! Do you have a clean up crew working on the algae? You wouldn't want your corals to be choked out. 😉

Nice live rock start!
The mantis will kill all snails, crabs, other shrimp, and strike fish if they get to close.
When you hear clicking its trying to smash somthing to eat.
They are best kept in species only systems. I fed mine pieces of shrimp until I was able to catch and remove it from my 150.

Well, that’s not good. I didn’t actually feed it with anything, so if it’s still alive it means it found another food source. Let’s see how it goes hopefully it doesn’t touch my snails.

Live rock seems so fascinating. Makes me want to start a live rock tank just to see what comes out of it. Good bad and the ugly.

Looking forward to seeing this progress

Mantis will eat snails if there is nothing else. I would feed it if you want to keep it but in that small of a system nothing will stand a chance. There is nowhere to hide.
Your crab will be killed and eaten in short time.
I still have one in my 50g but the 4 fish are good size. All crabs and small snails have been eaten. I feed it when I see it.
I would not add any fish to that small of a system as it will become mantis food.
They will strike fish if they get to close.
Good luck!

Oh no, seems like I have a real imposter over there :( I didn’t want any fishies but the snails are quite important to me. That mantis shrimp was very little, if it grows can it also hurt my hand while in tank?
