90 Gal Predator & Macro Tank

Mostly just full camo or his top half would be camo and bottom yellow. That being said, I've seen him a lil faded once, the black would be gray and yellow a lil faded.
What other fish do you have in your tank, what do you feed him and how long did you have him?

Everyone looks serene and happy. Tell me, does your Foxface spend a large amount of time looking very white-ish in color, as opposed to vibrant yellow? I’m not alking about the splotchy bruised bannana look (when frightened, or trying to camouflage in a rock). I mean just all washed-out? Mine often does... but he otherwise acts fine, eats, and grows, so (?)

Went to clean the powerheads and gravel today. The fox got really faded so not sure if this might be relevant to your situation. He still spends most of the time in full or half camo colors. Only yellow around the morning.

My guess is that the reason they look so yellow at the LFSs is because they are in tanks with no rock or other shelter— just always swimming out in the open in a bare tank.

I’ve had him more than 6 months and he’s growing like a weed; but when he comes out from the rockwork (tends to be shy) he is often white-ish in color. Swims/acts fine. I suppose this is normal.

That's interesting. What do you feed him? I've only been using dry seaweed from the asian market near me.

He’s a good eater— Nori, lots of pellets & frozen foods, mussels on the shell, even flake. I try to keep it well-rounded.

I'll see if he will go for the frozen mysis, the marine beta isn't going for it so its sitting in my freezer lol. Im actually having a hard time feeding the beta, he ate some live ghosties I picked up for him today but hoping he will go back on frozen foods eventually.

They had a gorgeous Marine Beta at my LFS— I wanted to jump on buying it— but then I pulled out my cell phone and did a little reading, and found they can be extremely difficult to get to eat. I turned to the guy at the store and said, “Hey, it says that these things are hard to feed… Is that true? The LFS guy was ultra-honest and said, “I haven’t gotten one to eat yet!” Yikes! :eek:

Super shy, he will spend most of the time in a PVC fitting and seen him wandering out of it a few times, but when he does, really gorgeous. I might try attaching food to a fish line to move it around and see if he shows any interest. Radiata Lions will probably be just as difficult so this will be good practice or maybe even change my mind on getting one.

Absolutely gorgeous fish, he was struggling in the QT, wouldn't eat any frozen food at all and I've tried fishing line, straws, target feeding. He ate live the first time, but 2 weeks in he wouldn't even pay attention to it. He did not seem to be happy at all in the QT, prob bc of all the white pvc and the rest of it being fairly open space, so I moved him to the DT. The day after, he eats frozen, swims around when its dusk/dark out with his fins opened up, very beautiful fish and glad he seems to be doing better now.
Got 2 mangroves that will get put into the overflow, but they are sitting in the Qt until i get some pool noodles to float them.
Once some weeks pass and the tank is doing fine, I will start looking for a lion.

Chaeto is scary efficient at competing with other algaes wow! Its been 2 weeks and the longspine urchin has nothing to eat, have to end up putting food next to it. Literally a few days after putting some in the sump, the glass has been spotless and even the diatoms disapeared.
Decided to remove alot of it and leave a little chaeto in the sump to help the mangroves feed.

Found this tiny lionfish. :oops: Hoping he does well until he puts on a lil size before going in the main tank.

I'm trying to put together a t5 bulb on the canopy to help the mangrove. Also got a small red montipora frag off someone. Not really sure where to place it, so its sitting in the qt with the lion.

Lion has doubled in size, been feeding everyday to get him bigger. Now he is in the DP and already the panther came to see.

Exactly. My most disappointing fish. Getting bigger and bigger, but wimpier and wimpier. And still all washed out — never vibrant, even at his most ‘yellow.’ I’ve bought some Selcon to add to food, but I’m not holding my breath. I ‘do’ have sky-high phosphates and nitrates (which I plan to address), but if they are affecting coloration, he’s the only one out of 20 fish. The yellow in my Bannerfish is excellent.

Macros are doing a great job maintaining those. Even in the QT tank, went a month and a half without changing the water, i just dumped all the excess chaeto in it and did work.

And its true about disapointing fish. Was hoping it would be active in time but not hopeful anymore lol. I might need to find a wrass or something to swim around during the day.
