So you did that and it actually worked. Lol. That's so funny and yet awesome at the same time. I held my phone up and they went nuts then came back real interested and excited
Haha mine do that alot, especially when I'm trying to take a picture.

Okay I bought the Red Sea reef foundation test kit. I find it to be confusing so I watched some videos on it from Red Sea to ensure I did the test correct. I still don't 100% feel comfortable with the tests but this is the results

Calcium-430
Alkilinity-7.8
Magnesium-1400
Maybe when I do it again after my water change in a few days I'll feel better about it.

I dunno yet lol I need a test kit that displays a number and says hey dummy this is your number of calcium. Haha I just don't feel comfortable with my testing yet everybody sees color differently. The alkalinity never really turned a pink color more of a orange in my eyes. Lol. I guess I just need to focus on when the color shifts as opposed to what color I just don't know when and if I add another drop or added too many. I'll get used to it I guess already more comfortable than at first test.

I love the Red Sea kit. Important thing is to read the color change as soon as it happens. Ca and Mg are a little tricky since it's a fine line between the purple and navy blue colors. In any case the switchover should happen within a couple of drops and in the big picture that shouldn't cause a vastly different reading. Alk is a little easier. It changes to that reddish brown color and is fairly easily to tell when that happens. With Ca and Mg jot the reading down immediately as I have found that the color sways back to purple a little bit if you let it sit for a minute.

Awesome thanks bluedevil I do feel a lot more comfortable than I did at first. I feel I was focusing on trying to match the color identical as opposed to watching for the color shift.
Thanks for your input on that.

Alittle update I went a couple hours down the road to aquarium connection in Knoxville tenn and bought some new guys. Meet bullseye [randalls goby] and pistol Pete [pistol shrimp]. I hope I'm not the only dork that names their fish haha. I made this one rock hoping they'd take to it its in the middle of the tank and the can go completely under it but my luck they'll make it to the back out of sight lol. Also wanted to note how much my rock has started to color up in the one pic. Things are changing. I still have what I assume a diatom outbreak on the back glass and parts of the sand that's kind of annoying. Everything seems happy.
