Hello Reefing Family!!!
So I have finally got my wife to sign off on a build of a 90 gallon tank. Yeah, it wasn't easy, especially since she has an idea of how expensive that build will actually be, but after months of nonstop bringing the subject back to life, she has decided to just say yes. Maybe she got tired of listening to it day in and day out, or she just wants to be a supportive wife, in any case, I got my precious YES and now I'm am anxious to star. And that is where all of you come in. I need help with few extremely important things. Let's start from the beginning, though.
I've been in the hobby for just over a year. I have a 24 gallon nano cube that is thriving with nothing but softies. Zoas and a Toadstool Leather. 2 designer clowns, 1 sea anemone and some crabs, a bandit shrimp and multiple snails. All that is under AI Prime HD. I have 1 Current USA wave maker 660 GPH in the tank and nothing else. For the new tank, the 90 gallon, so far I have a Current USA return pump (3170 gph) Current USA Wave maker (2100 gph) Eshops Protein skimmer taken down from a 180 gallon tank, and a 40 gallon sump. That is it. I assume I will need another wave maker of similar size to the 2100 gph that I already have, and of course lights. And that is where all of you come in. I don't really have a cap on the budget, but as far as the lights, I would like to stay under 700-800 dollars. Any suggestions? Should I go with more AI Prime HD's since I already have 1 or should I go in a totally different direction? One thing I want to mention. I am interested in a mixed reef with emphasis on LPS and some SPS and would like to go in the direction of LED's. And as far as the return pump, since Current USA return pump is programmable, should I keep the pump at full blast or should I lower the flow to allow the sump to do its job? Does that make a difference? And how much flow is enough in a 90 gallon tank? Flow from the return pump and from wave makers.
I know I am writing a lot here, askin so many different questions, but I am clue less. I truly am. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!! Thank you all in advance and Happy 4th of July!!!
