Im about to set up my CaRx for the first time, but have a few basic questions.

1. When initially starting, how much media should be placed inside the reactor?
2. Overtime as media dissolves, when should media be refilled?
3. How often do you remove and rinse your media to get rid of the mush?
3. With a two stage regulator, at what PSI should I begin swapping out co2 tanks?
4. Lastly, when I have my co2/effluent ratio, how do I further the adjustment for when consumption starts to increase?
Example - 20bpm/30ml is sufficient, then demand increases. How to I adjust from here?

I fill at 3/4 full and add when it’s CC approaching halfway mark
Refill tank when gage is down to 5 or less on gage
I don’t rinse media as dissolved material is good - that you would do with zeolite

1. When initially starting, how much media should be placed inside the reactor?
Depending on the reactor about 3/4's full should work.

2. Overtime as media dissolves, when should media be refilled?
Not really sure here, haven't gotten that far.

3. How often do you remove and rinse your media to get rid of the mush?
Once again not sure here.

3. With a two stage regulator, at what PSI should I begin swapping out co2 tanks?
Most suggest to swap it out when the regulator goes into the red. I would think aroun 30psi (this is where mine is at)

4. Lastly, when I have my co2/effluent ratio, how do I further the adjustment for when consumption starts to increase?
Make small increments in the proper ratio. Get a feel for how much x amount of effluent change makes in the tank. Each tank and reactor will be different.

Example - 20bpm/30ml is sufficient, then demand increases. How to I adjust from here?
I adjust the flow first so I would adjust the water flow from 30ml to 35ml, so 20/x = 30/35. x = 23.33 or just 24bpm.

Hope that helps.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
