A8 Light Help Guide Version 2

So, I threw the app at Claude this evening trying to push it into Home Assistant, and it seems to have been successful.

Is anyone brave/stupid enough to try it out?

I like the idea. How you do it. I'm a developer myself ao I would love to know what was the prompt you use and if you are able to share the project.

Note: - I've asked Claude to rip apart the whole app, and grab everything else it can get in terms of devices, because then its not just the A8SE that I have but the other A8 models, and the A7. Will update when its done

Love to see what you come up with. Willing to try the app once ready if you would like testers. I'll try on my end and see what I can come up with as well. Maybe we ended up doing a way better version LOL

I'm more keeping same app, but going down HA route for management - I'm trying to build out that ecosystem for my tank. What I could/ should do is make a companion app that is faster than the AIPAI app and uses it to plug into HA that way. Hmm

Thanks for sharing the git repo. Yeah, that's a good idea. When I first got the lights I thought about something similar and how to integrate it with my Apex. Unfortunately the lights don't have an additional port.

Hi Guys, I have not seen this mentioned: I just had those lights opened for thermal paste application and noticed a connector next to the esp32. It's most likely UART they use for direct programming and debugging. Maybe it would make sense to reverse engineer it and see what can be done with it? IMHO, to get those lights wire-controlled would by sweet.

Has anyone had any luck setting moonlight in the app for any version of the lights? A8 PRO / A8SE / A7?

Has anyone had trouble setting up lights using IOS app? I have app Version 3.1.78 on my IPhone. I have added a dedicated 2.4ghz router. When I add a light I keep getting the error message “Data anomaly, APP will restart”When I click confirm it just resets the app.

I also do not have an option to change time zones?

Sorry just seeing this. I ended up setting up 2 lights on the app then went out of town. When I got back they were working in the app. I set up my others and by the next morning they were working correctly. Synced all the lights and ran them next few days no issues, shut down power to them a few times and everything worked when they came back on each time. Finally getting tank in next few weeks.

Jumping her to see if someone knows the answer... I have 2 K7 pro V3 and one A8se Max in different tanks, I prefer the look of the A8, but I have found the K7s to be more reliable... If I lose wifi and power the A8 does not revert to its schedule and settings unless wifi becomes available, whereas the K7 hosts its own wifi signal and is not dependent on home internet, so it never skips a beat even after long power outages and wifi loss...

This is a problem if I lose connectivity while away from home for the A8...
Like I stated I prefer the look so I would like to switch all my lights to the A8 but this is a pretty big flaw when it comes to reliability. Has anyone encountered this issue and/or a solution?

I can see that the app has a direct connect mode feature that lets you directly control the light similar to the k7s as it hosts its own AP connection but I'm not sure if it "saves" the settings after a power loss in that state....

I don't care about wifi control I just want them to go back to their settings after power outages
