Acan Eye Candy

I bought this as a frag during a live sale several months ago. Since I bought it, its color faded and it never really showed full polyps or growth. So happy that during the last couple of months it has really turned around. Of all my acans, it is my favorite. Just had to share this beauty!

The colors are much richer than the picture. I think the filter dulls them a bit. It’s amazing!

This looks to be actually an oddly-grown pachysepta, not Acan (Micromussa) btw

The coralites are far too small to fit that. And it has none of the other characteristics. I trust the store I bought it from that sold it as an acan. I can see why you might think that.

If you look at the striations on the mantle/coenosarc, it has far to many to match Micromussa/Acans. The striations much more closely match the septal beading of pachyseptas in captivity.

The flesh texture also does not match it either, lacking the papillae that Micromussa have, instead having the concentric wrinkles of pachyseptas/Acanthastrea.
