Crazziest thing man.... I had some acans die like 4months ago the plug with skeleton was upside down in the sand and I just finally decided to flip it over.. Well actually take it out and I noticed some pink flesh... Low and behold I got 3 baby acans on there....
Never heard of this before on acans... I know plates can regenerate into babys but never heard of a scan doing this... I know for sure they were completely gone it sat on a rock for 2 months just a skeleton and now I got some babys lol... I will get a pic tomorrow when the lights come on...

I had a favia do the same thing...it was a complete skeleton for like 6 months so i threw it behind the base rocks and i look at it and new heads were growing..now i have total of about 15 heads and i call it the revive favia

****....knew i should've kept my purple tipped blue heliofungia.................... THOU IS RESURRECTED!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a piece of branching frogspawn from a member here and it didn't ship well. I put it in my tank and it ended up melting away to nothing. I left it in the tank though and after about 2 weeks I started to notice little brown specs on the skeleton...sure enough, it was little baby heads of frogspawn. I've got 8-9 little babies growing.

I had some micromussa do that as well. Completely gone and then 2 or 3 heads came out of nowhere.

Unfortunately they are gone again and didn't come back this time

so i think its safe to say.......
if your lps die just leave it!!!!! good chance it will come back to life...;)i thought it was way cool lol...

I had the same thing happen as well.. also with chalices :)

I had chalices pop out of skeletons months after I thought they were dead. Luckily I'm WAYYYY too lazy to pull the skeletons

My acans do this all the time...I got them for free with some other corals.

Needless to say is that they dont do well in my tank, but they keep growing back. They get to a certain size, cut themselves up on their skeleton or whatever and then they die back. Then I get three little new ones a couple weeks later.

Peppermint shrimp will also eat your acans...learned this the hard way. But they came back, and the peps are all gone.

That's the only reason I know hahahahah, "uhh ill get it later"

I have had this happen before too when I was too lazy to pull it out, and up until now I have generally just tossed to dead skeleton because I didn't want to look at it in the DT. The other day I finally set up a frag tank that is connected to my DT's sump. So from now on I can toss dead skeletons into the frag tank and let them find their way in life without looking at them in the DT.

I get so lazy... I'll mean to pull a piece out... when I finally do, I leave it cause it's covered in coraline and looks good now haha
