Just got back home from petco with an exquisite firefish that they said was kept in their hyposalinity system. For some reason it didnt exactly hit until i got home that the acclimation is gonna be muuch longer
I dont have a QT. Only a bucket, an accudrip, an a dream. How do i go about doing this?

Thank you. I think my only option here is to just drip acclimate for as long as I can with the accudrip as the salinity of the new fish is .013 away from my dt...

Okay! Well, I'm not sure exactly how it worked this quick (hopefully the fish will be fine) but with 2 drops per second the water's salinity got up to speed around half an hour ago. Added the fish into the tank, currently lights OFF so he's hiding in a cave atm.

Good luck!
Firefish has been in hiding every since adding, but I can definitely see that it's still alive. Good thing it picked the cave near the glass. On the other hand, the yasha goby I have no clue where that is lol.

Just for future reference hypo is lower than 1.013. 1.013 is low enough to suppress disease / parasites but not cure/ kill them. Once the fish is added to water with normal salinty if disease is present it can become active. I learned the hard way by adding a fish kept in low but not hypo salinty and introduced velvet. Many stores also run low levels of copper. I now no longer buy fish that are not in a tank with coral and / or inverts.

Apologies in advance for the blue nuke. Didn't want to mess with the AI app to make it white lol.

Definitely a lot more outgoing now. Firefishy has been going for strolls pretty frequently now, getting slightly further from home with time. Yasha doing yasha things. 😂 might have to place an order for some candy cane pistol shrimps tbh...
