I’m new to the hobby, this is my first post, and have a question about adding more fish. I have a 65 gallon AIO, two AI HD primes, with an inch of Caribsea Arag substrate and a decent amount of dry rock. It’s been just over 3 months now since I added water from my LFS and the cycle was complete after the 3rd week (used Dr. Tims).

So far, I have 2 clowns (added 1 month in), one citron clown goby (added 1.5 months in), 6 bumble bees, and 3 Nassarius snails. Still using the API tests just to see how things react since I still have the testing solution left. Today my ammonia: 0, nitrites: 0, nitrates: 5, PH: 8, temp: always around 79.

Within the last month I added a midas blenny and he lasted about two weeks and didn’t make it. He ate each night and was swimming around a lot. I just tried adding a royal gramma and while in an isolation box, he died after one night.

Is my tank still too “new” and not established enough? Any suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated!

The tank should be fine at this point and should be able to add fish successfully.

Can you advise your acclimation process? Did you check the salinity of the fish water and match to your own before adding? How is your tank oxygenated? Are the fish bought locally or mailed to you? Thanks

I did a drip acclimation for at least an hour and then placed in an isolation box at the top of the main tank (didn’t pour in the water that the fish came in). The fish are from a trusted LFS that I purchased my other 3 fish from. I have have my two AIO return nozzles pointing near the surface to provide surface agitation while I also have two AI Nero 3s on opposite sides of the tank.
