I'm looking for a little tips/advice on plumbing the drains and return for my 60g cube through the wall to connect it to my frag system in the other room.

When you plumb through the drywall do you need to shroud the pvc with anything or do you basically just drill a hole large enough for the pvc to pass through and call it good? Should I put extra unions on both sides if the wall?

Any other tips before I start putting holes in the wall?

The tank has a built-in external overflow box with 2 1" drains and a 3/4" return.

I planned out the addition of the tank when I set my frag system so I already have a 1" drain with a gate valve connected to my sump that I just need to connect to the tank with a union.

I also teed off my 1" return and will add a 1" ball valve that reduces down to the 3/4 return line. The tank in the next room pretty high so I'm thinking the ball valve might help me create a little artificial head pressure if needed.

I'll update the post with some pictures to better show what I'm trying to describe.

The unions would be a good idea just incase u needed to take it apart for some reason.
But yes just drill big enough holes to get the pipe threw.
The smaller the hole the better and the less holes there are the better.
I hope there will be no 90s in or really close the wall???

Unfortunately there's going to have to be at least 1 90 on each line to account for the height difference. I can't really see any way around that.

You can put some beauty rings around the pipe where it goes through the wall, just to make it look nice of you want. But as long as its not a fire wall, you're good.

Just make them outside of the wall not in it. It will be easier.

I used a four inch pvc pipi to line the hole. That worked out really well and if I have to patch it some day it will be easy to do with a patch kit

Here's a couple photos to get a rough idea. Excuse the mess, it's all still a work in progress.

I used expanding foam to seal around the pipes when I ran plumbing to a remote fuge in my garage. Worked well but I haven't prettied it up yet. I also used unions to make maintenance easier.

Has anyone ever used flex pvc? It's stupid expensive in store, $90/25ft 1" vs $30/25ft online, but it looks like it could possibly make my life easier. I already have a tee off my return and a capped union that I can directly connect to as well as a drain line, shown in the picture.

I've used it and like it. Lay it out somewhere for it to get nice and warm first or it's a pain to bend. Get it warm and it becomes very easy.

I'll probally get knocked for saying I use it but I went to lowes and bought a sump pump piping kit. Wasn't much I can't remember how much it was but was a lot cheaper than 90 for 25 feet in thinking 15-20 dollars at the most. Been working for 2 years no problems or leaks
