After 19 years I am back to one of the greatest hobbies in the world :) I had a successful 125 gallon Oceanic reef tank from 1990-2000 running LifeReef filter system and had some form of fish tank since I was a little kid.

But being in IT my work had me traveling a lot, got married, moved several times, family stuff so I got of the hobby. But you may the leave the hobby but it never leaves you:). I have been researching the last several months and its amazing how much has changed. Finally pulled the trigger on Reefer 250. I just happened to be at one of the LFS and the RedSea rep was there and gave me one of heck of a deal on the tank that I could not pass up. I am going to take my time setting this tank up but will be posting as I go.. Let the fun began

Lifereef gear is still some of the highest quality in the business and you would not be wrong to cram a lifereef skimmer in that Red Sea sump

I agree. I was going to ask if you were going to pull yours out of the closet.

Just un-boxed the stand. It is super heavy and a really nice quality. Finish looks and feels like it will help in moister control. It is not the newer plywood but MDF. There are a lot of parts but that is what I would expect for something like this. Like others have stated the install instructions are really lacking. Only pictures and the parts are not numbered. Looks to have a issue with the foam attached to once piece but should not be any issues. Now off to put it together

I could not agree more. I still have several pieces of my old LifeReef. I am going to look in storage see if still have the skimmer and sump. If I do they will be put to use.

Is this level enough. I have not added any shims. The first pic is from front to back and 2nd is side to side. The tank is setting on hardwood floor over concrete slab. House was in the 80's show there should be now more settling

I guess I will load with fresh water and do a test run to see if is is level enough or not. Was going to do that anyway to test for leaks.

Hey there.. 250 has been up and running since 7/27 cycled is complete, running full light schedule, got 1 fish, cuc and a few softies added. So far all is good. I will be starting a new build thread showing everything from the beginning. Got tons of pics so be on the look out. I have been traveling a lot the last couple of months for work and just have not had time to post the build but will get it going
