Care to hazard a guess what this is?

Has not spread. One coral next to it is developing its own strands. Not spread by flow or contact.

Samples bottled and packed in mailer.

Note: sciencey looking gloves. Lab coat and thoughtfully focused look not pictures.

(Photo bomb credit: Queenie. )
Those gloves always remind me of the scene in Fletch when he gets a prostate exam.

Hahahaha.

Note: you can't see my other hand.
Ha! I see what you did there. Well played. Also, for the life of me, I have never seen algae like that. It almost looks like giant strands of bacteria.

In belive it is. I'm talking to a couple neighbors , both science teachers about a scope. My kids biology teacher is actuality a marine biologist. But I'll have to wait till after turkey day to ask if she can look at a sample.

I belive it is still possible it's a dinoflagellate. The appearance of it on a coral not in contact or flow would indicate motility.

I checked phycokey and that's for sure Cthulhu spp.

Here's a video that shows correct treatment options and a good example of movement for positive ID:

Man that is a bummer!!! :(

(Something wrong with alerts that I never saw this thread posted even tho you are followed...didn't know what I'd been tagged into earlier.)
Yea, I get dropped out a bunch of stuff.
Thus the 300 open windows on my phone and 900 bookmarks. Lol.
I've put together a note book on some of Danas threads.
