AI Prime HD?

I'm currently thinking about going with the AI Prime HD for my tank which measures 24x13x17 (WxDxH), would a single one work or would I have to get two for full coverage? Thanks

If you want complete coverage, and a better chance at growing anything you want, I always recommend one Prime per 12" of tank length. So two would be great!

I run a Prime HD on a 24x16x13 and I think it's perfect! Any longer and I might need 2.

Do you use the mounting bracket or the gooseneck? I have heard and seen some bad reviews about the gooseneck.

I use the gooseneck and haven't had any issues with it. You just have to be gentle when moving it.

I run a regular Prime on a standard 10g. It's 20" long and it provides great coverage. 24" would probably be stretching it a little but if you don't have high light corals on the edges you should be fine. If you're going for sps end to end, I'd say 2 would be more appropriate.

I think a hydra 26 might be overkill if you aren't planning a SPS heavy tank. Just my 2 cents though. Lol

I run mine on a 24 inch across tank and I agree - I wouldn't put any high light demanding corals in the corners of the tank. I'd say 3-4 inches on each side is where I see the least amount of light.

Do you think it would be a disadvantage if the lights were overkill, but you simply lower the intensity?

I think AI claims it's good for an 18" cube. I have plenty of power left to bump it up if need be and you'd have even more with an HD.
