I am posting this because Since I did not change a thing in My Tank I want to know why after over 20 years does it appear? I have done investigating and decided to try the Berghia Route . Can some one comment on my question ? As I need to know if it is preventable . So far it gas not started to kill my Coral , but I am not going to wait. If I have to I will sacrifice some of my Mushrooms and remove the one rock it is on and try what I have read by sticking the rock in Rodi water and it starves I guess

They can comfortably live in dark, hidden areas like your sump, overflow boxes, or inside rock crevices. They only emerge or become noticeable when they outgrow their hiding spot and stretch out for light or food. Unless you have a lot of aiptasia, I would try F-Aiptasia first. However, you may have to clean your equipment, pipes, etc as well.

I would try F-Aiptasia. It works but follow the instructions! After 4 days it's critical that you siphon where you put it. Otherwise, it will come back.

If you have just a few, I've had good luck loading an insulin syringe with lemon juice or vinegar, then sticking the 'nem and injecting; takes them right out. You just have to carefully sneak on them because if they sense you coming, the retract back into the rock.

If you have a lot more, then the Burghia nudis can be a good option.

Honestly if you have them you will always have them in your system.
Nudis work but I have had more success with a file fish long term.
I have a 150 with 150lbs live rock, 50 with 50-60 lbs live rock and a 35 with 30-40lbs live.
I have a file fish in all 3 and you will never see an aptaisa in those systems.
All systems have been running for 1.5-2 years now.

Note:
In all 3 systems mentioned I have aptasia in the overflows but not the main systems.
I just scraped the 50's overflow and there were at least 10. Down the drain into the mesh sock and out of the system.
In 2 months there will be 10 more but again none in the system.

"Your milage may vary" Should have gone metric...
Weird I still like Fahrenheit for temp probably because of my age . Speed does not matter when driving but I still convert for distance . However when measuring something you cannot beat metric. You have to try really hard to screw it up unlike the british system which is idiotic 1/16 / 1/32 / 1/ 64 do you know what ch is ? . Probably because I was in the trades and all blueprints were done in metric its all in tenths . How can you go wrong . I dont like how the lumber industry screwed us . All our wood is smaller and we paid the same. I hope Trump Tarrifs it 100% . Same for volume . Try to add 2 stroke to a gasoline can that is marked in metric , and the oil is imperial what a mess

100% gone in 30 days and never have appeared again with the Copperband.

But, if you have clams or big polyp stuff, they are at risk.

Everything has a downside.

I also vote for the copperband, i added one to my system and i can only find the aptasia in my overflow and they used to be in my sump as Well but i put in a filefish and some peppermints in there and now it’s gone from there too. My second tank is 100% aptasia free because i was crazy picky when starting it up, using 95% dead rock and 5% live rock which i quarantined for a couple of weeks and inspected them hard 😂 (made a seahorse tank and those little buggers hurt them)

Also inspect and quarantine every new frag or snail/crab you get because they hitchhike on that stuff too, found many little aptasia on my Nassarius

Chemical warfare or not I have added at least 12 peppermint shrimp to my system over the years to know that although they usually eat the aptasia when first added eventually they seem to lose interest and the you are back to chemical warfare!

Like I said the tank is over 20 years old no changes. I believe others are talking about chemicals not fish

Well i am against chemicals and i Will never use it for a problem only natural solutions but thats my philosophy.

in your case since nothing has been done in 20 years i belive it has always been there but perhaps your feeding regime went up a bit which gave them the chance to take a better hold in your tank? Just the first thought that pop up in my head.

And copperband is a Fish and pepparmint is a type of shrimp 😊
