Algae ID Needed

I have some pretty thick brown (not green, not red) but brown hair like algae. I suppose it is some type of diatom, but it is starting to build up a good bit on some of my rock work. It's not thick like hair algae. Rather it's kinda slimy. However, someone told me it's the early sexual stage of bryopsis. Obviously that worries me a great deal! Here are some photos of it:
