My tank has been running for 4 years but recently I have had an algae issue that is starting to bother some zoanthids. The algae doesn’t grow on the rock at all but it will grow on glass, piping, frag racks, frag plugs and my mushroom box.

The biggest issue is it growing on the frag plugs it has started growing between polyps as well. Im having a hard time getting a positive ID while searching. The algae doesn’t produce bubbles but has a really foul odor and when brushed off is almost a brown dusty slime. Pictures aren’t the greatest, they were taken at 12k. Any and all help is appreciated!

I was thinking it may be Chrysophytes!! I put a more powerful light over my chaeto and it seems to be slowing down up top but I am now getting it in my sump. Any input?

Hair algae? What size tank? What’s your livestock? Water parameters?
