Heyoo guys! I am have been in a battle with bubble algae. Though its a battle of NOT swords and sheilds, but one with fingers and forceps, lol.

But anyways, usaully bubble algae will just grow between corals and will just make it look ugly. Its kinda toleratable. But, this time, it got a whole lot worse. It started growing in the pipes of my chiller, making my chiller useless, causing the tank temp to skyrocket. Though, it has alreafy been fixed. Also, the loose bubble algae clogs up my pumps and wavemakers. It truly is very annoying.

So, I have tried to 'pluck' them, brush them off, and i even introduced an emerald crab. The emerald crab just vanished and not once did i see it after 2 weeks of adding it.
Anyways, is there an animal that will eat bubble algae or is there a more easier & effective way to get rid of them?
My tank is 20g.

Get 4 or 5 pitho crabs ..they will demolish it.

Really? I have added an emerald crab a few months ago and a strawberry crab 2 weeks ago. Both of them just vanished without a trace. I even check in the middle of the night. And they are FAR from cheap.

Usually 7 or 8 bucks each

The 2 different crabs listed helped eradicate ba in my 66 gallon tank completely.
You will probably need to add more than just 1 crab to get results.
The crab you added is probably working on the ba you can't see and is the reason it disappeared. It has no reason to come out from the cover it enjoys now.

Oh, I see. I am thinking of visiting a new lfs sometime (maybe tommorrow) to see if they sell those crabs for a cheaper price.

I’ve never seen pithos recommended before. A quick google search calls them bubble algae specialists and more peaceful than emeralds
