Multiple claims of being algae free due to the scrubber.
Are you for real man?
Are you actually saying that ATSs don't work at all because there may still be algae in the tank? I mean is that what yours (and others) argument was the entire time? Are you expecting mine, or his, or anyone else making the claim that that they work, that it is supposed to remove 100% of the algae in the tank and since it does not, then obviously the ATSs are worthless?
What do you use that removes 100% of the algae? Care to share a 100%white/0% blue pic?

You haven’t been paying attention. I have not claimed anything should be algae free, there’s only a couple of you doing that. My recent tank (a little older than yours), below;

I actually have killed off that section of algae with the scrubber, but I got a little concerned about potential long term effects of having 0 nutrients and phosphates. I changed my led hours in and increased feeding in an attempt to bump up my numbers, which worked, and algae grew in that spot.

Regardless, the argument that you can’t control algae in the display by using a scrubber in the sump, is invalid, and this further proves the point. I absolutely can control if algae is in the display, I just can’t choose where in the display it grows

I feel a good compromise is to have some measurable nitrates and phosphates and thankfully I have one small area in the back right corner out of view, that some hair algae grows, and I sometimes see my few snails go there for a snack. If I wanted it gone, from my experimentation, all I need to do is increase my scrubber leds to 19 hours.

Chill dude. Notice key words.. "alge free", you and others stated it was. Everyone else showed otherwise. Some controlled algea is fine but understand that it's not eradicated because of the ats

It is a fine tool to help control algea. Not a solution to eradicate it

You can eradicate it 100% if your scrubber was strong enough, and you wanted to.

I personally believe algae is an important part of a reef and thanks to the scrubber and the number of hours I run it, I can keep 98% of it in the scrubber, and 2% on a rock that’s in the back of the tank behind other stuff.

Anyone viewing this tank would agree the algae is completely under control, and growing in the scrubber as designed. Keep in mind, I don’t use vodka, gfo, a skimmer, and haven’t done water changes in over two years. The scrubber is successful at controlling the algae

Here zoomed in pics of all the other rock to show it’s not growing anywhere else

So like have we solved the measuring contest yet or still having a sword fight???

Am I still okay to run my ATS to help control nutrients in my tank since I like to feed heavy or have the almighty overlords said this is not allowed now?

Sure, and I agree. But the spark in this thread was stance that the ops ats solved/eradicated/ prevents/ all gha in display. Semantics, maybe. but the others, some of the highest level reefers(omitting myself) argue there's more to it. I'm just trying to bridge the gap. The definitive words chosen leave no wiggle room

I'll have to catch up tomorrow though, can't do this another night straight. I have laundry and dishes and stuff that need to get done. I'll check back

Go for it!! Why not

Okay, I've derived a model (only applicable under certain conditions) that predicts we'll make it to 30 pages

I’d like to see that model so that we can accurately assess what we see with our own eyes

N_pages(x, y, z) = 2x + 5y - z

Where x is the number of times we get hung up over language, y is the number of times we agree but posture for street cred, z is the number of people who have read every single comment in this thread.

I'm not sure what the values should be for this joke, so I decided to make the equation just equal 30 so I could prove my point. X=8, y=4, z=6

Ok, cut meat, smoke break. Now I can follow this math. Could probably make it pan out with a little anecdotal interpretations
