algae normal for new tank?

So I've got this really green algae growing over my rocks and sand. Tank is 4 months old. Any i.d on what this is would be helpful.

Thanks. Yes I have turned the lights down. How long will this go on for?

Awhile, until that rock is completely covered with good algae... It will come and go. Buy a Sailfin/Algae Blenny to help you out. I would also get some snails and hermits for the sand...some sort of clean up crew.
