Hey everyone I have a aussie fathead candy cane that is slowly getting taken over by hair algae. I am look for ways I can clean it off without hurting the coral. Attached is a photo. I have used tweezer to try to pluck individual strands off but that didn’t work.

I’d use a soft toothbrush and very lightly brush it off it will tick coral off but not harm it as long as ur gentle might take a few passes but will work I’ve done it to my zoas bunch of times, made them mad but didn’t hurt them. Anyway that’s what I do

If the entire thing feels like a rock it’s gone, are you sure those were coral feeding tentacles and not the arms of a pest?
Hundred percent it was The coral and not a pest. I will have to check to see how it feels.

Still some life left there, not much, but some.

Keep the algae off it, and it may recover. As said above, hydrogen peroxide will kill the algae on the coral, just be careful to not get it on the coral polyps.

And if you follow this advice, that coral will be dead in a matter of days.

Look I get it, sometimes it's best to not do anything, but in this case with algae strangling the coral, it's better to react then do nothing and lose the coral. Least give it a fighting chance.

Ok this is a pic of a piece of gorgonian it was on a rock with others one time, anyway I have no idea why it was in middle of sandbed all by itself. It looked dead almost three quarters of it had no flesh just hard skeleton like feeling poke,, but the top had a speck of life I stuck it in a rock figuring if it died all way least the ponies would have something to hang on. That was a month and a half maybe two months ago
Look at it now ,all flesh grew back and it’s getting fat plus it sprouting polops
I only give advice from experience I’ve had and know everybody’s system is different
My only thought as to why it came back to life is because I use only 100% Ocean Water not one drop of RODI well that’s my exp with it and I hope your coral pull threw and blossoms
