AliExpress A8SE Reef Light

Im not sold on going to LEDs yet. But thank you in advance, ill keep this in mind

So everyone. I set up a program to take my light to a frag swap thinking it would stay on that program. I get to the swap with no internet WiFi and it won’t run my schedule. Do these need to be connected to run my program schedule? Can I connect it to my phone somehow like a hot spot? Sort of in a pickle. I went ahead and reset the light and the standard program is ok but I would like to have more blue.
Thanks
Jeff

Guys help me out here, buttons of both of my light dont work cause ill try resetting it and it wont woej

Using 3 A8Pro II Max's on my Waterbox 190.5 for several months now. I'm attaching a pic of my par readings. Some of the readings are misleading because some readings were taken front to back. Readings were taken during the high point for the day running approx 80/20. Basic readings are around 600 at the top, 400's in the middle and <400 at the bottom. Very happy overall.

Well, I have good news after a lot of work today. It looks like I have derived the whole schematic of the mainboard, but some components are still unknown, but this doesn't matter much for the reprogramming, at least everything is in there.
Only U8 would be nice to know because it's connected to GPIO23, and I have no clue what it's supposed to regulate as it goes to +3.3V via a resistor and U8. It looks like a sot23 package and the text on there can be seen in the photo provided. If someone has a better idea of what it could be that would be nice.

The schematic will be revised when necessary, and problably will be updated with more info in there as well (like which part regulates which voltage, clock, LED-drivers etc.). Now I'll have to wait for my new light to come in to be able to plug it into 32V and measure everything as I don't want to detach the light above my tank. Indexing most pins is already possible with just the schematic. When there are further updates I will start a new thread dedicated to the alternative firmware to run them on HA (hopefully).

Awesome work! Do you have any updates on your Home Assistant Project? I camt find any new stuff in this post

thought I would share a problem that I have with one of my lights. I found the light was on full power and not responding to anything. The button lights are not working and the light comes on full strength but other then that it isnt dont anything. I contacted the seller and they are sending a new control board. Hopefully this will be the fix.

Guys i need help.. I am running the A8 Pro Max II for nearly 5 months now and the power brick (attached images) is dead all of a sudden.
I am not able to get a 32V adapter. Can I get some adapter of a different voltage rating for this?

Ive used one of these for projects and also quick fixes such as a dead power brick in an emergency. Handy little tools if you know how to use it to help you.

Thanks for the reply man!
I have seen these variable power supplies and i like them too. Only thing is i don't want bulky electronics lying around in the room.

Another thing which I don't understand is the lights are rated at 240w but the provided adapter is just 200w! How does that work?
I have seen some people use a 36V power brick however I am afraid if that would fry my LEDs (since the original adapter is 32V only).
Any thoughts?

and why you don't order a new one from AE?

There are few issues:
1. Will take time to get it from China
2. I have to pay customs duty again for import, so seller suggested to get one from local and they will reimburse the amount.
3. I have a doubt as to why the provided power adapter is 200watts (32x6.5) while the rated power consumption for A8 Pro Max II is actually 240watts. I have found the MeanWell 36V adapter but I am very hesitant to use since the original power adapter is rated 32V.

the pro version comes with meanwell adapter but i dont know if also provides 200w :(

I have 4x of these on my WB330, the power supplies do run hot, I am in the process of cooling them with a 120mm fan to increase longevity.

Anyone have a link for the meanwell or the generic to keep as a back up?

Thanks for asking! I'm running v20250801 on 3 lights. On each of them, when I open the light, it asks if I want to sync the time and I click ok. It indicates "successful" and displays the correct time. Then, when I go back into the app, it's back at the old time. I have all 3 lights "linked". Maybe we need to remove them, set the time on each, and then add them all back to a group/link?

Just looking through previous posts and noticed this one! I logged into a light, said "ok" sync the time. Then, I updated the UTC option to match my time zone, which changed with our recent time change. Seems to be keeping the correct time now!

mine is version 3.0.7 and they removed the timezone option in the main menu, so when i update the time and come back out, the time would go back to the old time
