These can absolutely power that tank and do it well.

any of you have par measurements on these ?

These were my #'s, 10" off the water with 28"x28" coverage. The first # just the a8se'a, 2nd # is with my light bars added.

I have an A8SE on the way to light my 32G… after some thought I’m worried it may be too much for that size tank. It’s 24” wide 20” deep and 16” tall.

I would like to do a mixed reef but also learning that is going to be tough with a shallow tank to get the par range needed for SPS at the top and soft at the bottom.

What do y’all think?

I just installed 6 on a 160cm tank and the Acropora on the top gets around 1000-1200 PAR at 75% so i need to adjust them.. very powerfull light.. let's see how they do long term and if they are able to grow Acros :)

Edit: i use the A8 pro version and not A8se

You’re basically comparing the output of a radion, albeit a problematic radion, to halide coverage. Of course it will work well but very different. The height and width of the tank makes it so you will either need addition rows of linear lighting, or double stack the a8’s. So with no supplements i would
Run 8 of them On a tank with your dimensions to replace your current lighting. This means you should buy 10 of them so you have backups. These lights like to give issues here and there.

Thank you for replying, but at this price we talking about over $3k in lights to replace my current lights, very hard decision to make when it comes to this kind of money I need to spend.
And from what I read, there still some performance issues, and room for improvement, with this light

Get the regular a8se. They work great and are basically a g5 pro. Last I checked they were like $155 each shipped.

Same, I would run 4 of these with bars or t5's to supplement and add coverage. If you need more par, you can change the lenses. I did that with mine.

Hey everyone, I just got an A8SE and I love the colors compared to my old light but using the default schedules, it turns on after I leave for work and turns off before I get home so I don’t get to really enjoy the tank during the week.

Can anyone share their custom schedules so I get ideas? If this is already shared I’m happy to go through other threads if you can point me in the right direction.

I’ve gone through almost this entire 90+ pages thread and can’t really find anything.

Thank you!

Why dont you just shift the time so it does fit your schedule?

Yea that’s an options but it still be off either in the morning or the evening so I’m just curious about others who have set schedules to do longer ramp times and shorter “max” times.

Lol, maybe when they come up with a8pro lll then ill buy these!
Hey there… I see you have 3 x 400w MH’s and you’re looking to replace them. Who manufactured the light or are they something you built out yourself. If the latter, what ballasts are you running?
Thanks!

Im running reef brite pendant mogul base, they came originally with 250w reef brite ballasts, one by 1 ballasts burned out, so I replace all 4 with selectable icecap ballasts, now running on 400w selectable balast, and bulbs are radiums.

Thanks for replying. I do appreciate it as not everyone does.

Anyways, if you're looking to go all LED and want to let these go, please let me know.

Also, your profile says that you are in "North Port". I realize there are quite a number of North Ports in the US and am wondering if, by chance, you are in North Port, FL?
