To whom it may concern,
Before I dive into this I am 4 months into the hobby and am aware that I still have a lot to learn so all advice is welcome and appreciated
My tank is cycled moved to its current location 4 months ago and was established for a year before that.
For the first time ever my alkalinity dropped without calcium dropping with it. My alk went from 8.3 to 6.6 and I have no idea why. I attempted to correct the problem by doing a 25% waterchange with Red Sea pro salt.
My two questions are
1 why would have my alk dropped without calcium dropping.
2.) What is a better way to counteract this situation in the future
Current tank info:
72 bow front running a refugeum bio pellet reactor, skimmer, and gfo
Nitrate: 2.0
Ph 8.1
Phosphate:0
Calcium: 430
Dkh : 6.6
