I am dosing soda Ash. I don't think that is causing the error since the aquawiz has gone from a high of 8.93 at 2:42 to a low of 1.63 at 6:43 meanwhile Trident reports KH was at 8.63 at 2:19 and 8.81 at 8:09. The dang Aquawiz dosed my tank although I set it to dose only 10 ML per hour so it didn't spike the KH.

To me the Aquawiz seems to be less than worthless at this point.
I have re set up the Aquawiz to see if that will help!!! Will report back in a day or so.

Yeah...something is weird there. Its been awesome for me. I only use it to monitor and use other dosers for dosing. Hopefully with the reboot it acts right because it really is consistent.

I’m definitely no expert, but if your test tube levels are equal and the bubbles are equal, then a rapid and dramatic swing from 1.63 to 8.63 would suggest, to me, that you have a pH probe issue. I would check both the connection and the probe for accuracy and stability.

Agreed. I have two AquaWiz. If I didn’t purchase the 1 year supply of ABC, I would shelf my Trident. I use CARX’s, so currently I don’t care about daily CA or MG readings. In fact in I use the AquaWiz to provide the DKA information for my Apex to dictate what my CARX will do.

I will say something I learned this week that I am not crazy about at all. The field that says “maximum dosing per hour” is incorrectly worded and the unit doesn’t function as one would think. The bottom line is, that the most the AquaWiz will correct on an hourly basis is 50ML an hour. So, my system requires 785 ml to move my dKH 1.0. The max per hour I want to dose is 500 ml. So in my case the most it will dose per hour is 31.5 ml. It will only do 0.063 x your max hour dose amount. And, if it is over 50ML an hour, it caps at 50 ml. Not crazy at all regarding how the corrective dosing actually works. I love the unit but, I’ve been saying all along, it really should be priced around $399.00. Once you open it up, you would agree with me. I get the tariff situation etc etc. BUT, I guess the $0.48 dosing head used, likely can’t handle more than 50 ml an hour sustained. Still, I’m letting it be the leading edge for my 550g SPS system:

I agree with you on price, at this price, it should have professional grade dosing pumps and thank you for explaining how the dosing works, I was understanding this part incorrectly,

Ok after the reboot, the Aquawiz seems to be working well. ALK is staying right at 8.5 hourly and confirmed by Trident 4 times a day. I am using DOS to put in my Alk and if it falls below 8.5 on the hour than I have allowed Aquawiz to dose up to 20 ML. I have a 400 gallon tank. If the Aquawiz does have to dose I will modify my apex to increase the DOS for that hour going forward.

PH probe was fine, I suspect the water level in the two tubes were not at the line, if not, then I don't know what caused the issues. It is nice having hourly tests!!!!!

After it runs for a bit I may try to calibrate the PH probe. My PH has been amazingly consistent which I find hard to believe with lights going on and off.

I do not believe the PH probe needs to be accurate to test the ALK it just needs to be consistent, but it would be nice to get a better reading on PH.

I don't trust the Apex PH probe and I have never changed it. With the Apex PH fluctuates from 8.08 to 8.37 while with AquaWiz the PH fluctuates from 8.02 to 8.04 in a 24 hour period.

I think the Aquawiz runs pretty quiet, it will be interesting to see how it holds up over time.

Awesome to hear this, hope you get expected results out of AquaWiz, I have my trident sitting on shelf for now and using Alkatronic and AquaWiz, I check my other parameters with AquaSpin on weekly basis,

How are these holding up long term? Anyone ditch the Aquawiz for something else?

I calibrated my ph probe last night, but the readings are too high. I have retested with Salifert and it is 8.3. AquaWiz is showing 8.74?

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but im trying to find out about the amount of water thats drawn from the tank each hour for the testing and if its put back into the tank and at what point? Same time? 20 minutes later?

Im curious because of the smaller amount of water in my nano tank and if itll be causing salinity swings with the ATO on.

The sample fluid it takes is only to part one of the two aeration chambers worth plus what is in the collection tube, so 15-20 ml at most. Not enough to worry about.

I've been really impressed with my ALK stability after hooking up the dosing to the Aquawiz. My current tank is ~45 gallons and only running for about 4 months. My weekly ALK swings are comparatively solid now after enabling the dosing. The daily drift is within .3 and as accurate as I can measure manually with my Hanna.

The bnc cable is not provided but it's just a standard one you can buy off of Amazon and is cheap,

We are beta testing the iPhone app currently and it's also super easy to login to website and setup the product, this gives a detailed description of how the product works and the maintenance required. At top of the page is PowerPoint and below that is full documentation.

Here is my 200g system fully automated with the calcium reactor and see how the kh is kept as close to 8.0 which is my target.
Please feel free to ask me any questions you have. The web page above provides complete details.

Hi, can you change what you can see on the graph? I dont want to see things like PH(O)

I bought one after seeing it reviewed (positively) on Parker’s Reef. Arrived today and the pH probe is showing in the app as “0%”, the box is making a pretty loud buzzing and no-one in my family can see through the blue front screen on the latest version to tell if the 2 test chambers have the right water levels.
Tempted just to put it back in the box and return it but thought I’d check to see if anyone else was having issues?

I’m considering it to replace reef factory. Can anyone tell me if it will test and dose with automatic corrections without internet connectivity? Also, I heard if I open a window to air out the house, the alk readings will be unreliable for a few tests which may screw up automatic dosing.

Just received it this morning,

Shipping box has damage, everything inside thrown around and missing screws that hold inside cover down. I can’t see any loose screws inside. I’m going to call Top shelf aquatics today to report the damage to the box.

That aside…..

Wow, I was taken back by the quality of the machine for the money. $900 should get me a carefully built and quality crafted instrument! This thing was amateurish built to say the least. Sloppy glue joints on the screw stands, wiring extremely sloppy and pumps just thrown into the box. Cover for circuit board loose and extremely sloppy. Display screen has uneven glue joints and doesn’t sit flush with casing.

There is zero gaskets to prevent moisture from reference solution to eventually corrode “all” internal circuitry and pumps. All the internal covers have gaps and poor fitting so that moisture will eventually become an issue.

That aside, this has overall glowing reviews from the community and influencers. I like that there is no reagent. The outside casing is acceptable and the small size is nice.

I need at least long term reliability from corrosion, and I don’t see that happening. Nothing is protected inside.
I’m just not sure I’m going to keep this tester with these glaring defects. I have never seen a device at this price with such low build quality.

I did purchase with a card that doubles the warranty and has 90 day guarantee. I’m going to give it some thought today on what I’m going to do.

Don't worry about long term reliability, sell it to me once you're done with it 😉
