If you encounter any problem diring wifi setup. This is generally the issue:

The device can only connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The 2.4GHz and 5GHz signals must be separated (they must have different SSID names).

Do not use a combined 2.4G/5G network under the same network name.

Once the connection is successful, the time displayed on the device will update correctly — this confirms that the Wi-Fi connection has been properly established.

It is normal for the app to show no data at the beginning . The device needs time to upload its first measurement. Please wait 1–2 hours for the first data to appear.

I’m considering it to replace reef factory. Can anyone tell me if it will test and dose with automatic corrections without internet connectivity? Also, I heard if I open a window to air out the house, the alk readings will be unreliable for a few tests which may screw up automatic dosing.
The dosing will continue without internet connection. But te data wont be available on the app. So you wont be able to see the data. Aquawiz reading can become inaccurate for a few hours if the CO2 levels in the house gets altered significantly.

I bought one after seeing it reviewed (positively) on Parker’s Reef. Arrived today and the pH probe is showing in the app as “0%”, the box is making a pretty loud buzzing and no-one in my family can see through the blue front screen on the latest version to tell if the 2 test chambers have the right water levels.
Tempted just to put it back in the box and return it but thought I’d check to see if anyone else was having issues?
It takes an hour or two for the data to show up on the app. The first place to look for PH probe life is the display of the machine. The probe should show as "LF 100" if probe is good or "LF 0" if probe is bad once water is filled in the left test tube. This may take about 1 hour after starting up. If you get a bad ph probe. Please reach out to us and we wil lsend out a replacement PH probe.

Please use a flash light to see the water level properly. The front panel was made blue to redice the interferance of external light on the accuracy of the PH probe.

Thanks Anand,

When the Aquawiz is testing and the air bubblers are on, isn’t that sequestering the co2? If so, wouldn’t opening the windows be a moot point because that’s what the bubblers are doing anyways?

Also, I was going to use painters tape to seal the internal covers to prevent corrosion of circuit boards and pumps. Do you see any issue with this?

The tester is performing well without reagent which is the main reason I purchased it. I’m going to set up the dosing with all for reef next week to see how it performs.

I still stand by my original review that for the money paid, I feel the internals should be of higher quality with protection from the elements with gaskets, wiring protection etc.

Appreciate you interacting here on Reef2reef.

The impact of opening a window on the system is not entirely predictable, but rapid CO₂ fluctuations can influence the device’s readings. In my home, the HVAC system continuously brings in fresh air, so I have not experienced this issue with any of my Aquawiz units.

It is normal for the motor components to show signs of rust over time. This does not affect performance. Under typical operation, the dosing head wears out and the motor requires replacement long before rust becomes a functional concern.

The motor lifespan generally ranges from 6 to 18 months, depending on usage. Because of this expected wear, the motor is considered a consumable part.

Most users do not have concerns about carbon dust. In practice, the majority of customers only perform two routine actions:

  • Replace the motor when the system notifies them that it has reached the end of its service life.
  • Continue normal operation without additional maintenance related to rust or carbon dust.
The circuit board should remain unaffected as long as it is not exposed to water. While sealing the area is acceptable, it is not required.

Regarding AFR readings, there is a natural delay before alkalinity values update. We have identified two effective ways to optimize performance:

  1. Testing and dosing every 3 hours
  2. Setting a maximum dosage that maintains the desired level
We understand your concerns regarding the internal design. Aquawiz has committed to addressing these aspects in future versions of the device.

Thanks for the reply. I purchased this to slowly recoup the costs of reagent and make maintenance easier than the other testers.

The Aquawiz is unique in the way it tests, and so far it’s been accurate. But, I was extremely disappointed by the quality of the internals and lack of protection. I like keeping all my equipment rust free and protected for the high price of these units. I appreciate you taking the criticism and saying future versions will address this. Still doesn’t make me feel better spending $900 with these shortcomings.

The motors having a shorter life than other testing machines, means I’m not recouping my costs like the advertising makes me believe. Knowing all of this beforehand, I wouldn’t have purchased the machine.

Thank you for being transparent and taking constructive criticism without being defensive.

We have sold nearly 4,000 units so far. The motor lifespan is typically over one year, and in most cases we have seen it last more than a year and a half.

Currently, similar products on the market also use carbon brush motors, so the lifespan is generally comparable across brands.

In addition, within the one-year warranty period, if the motor fails, the manufacturer provides a replacement free of charge. The manufacturer does not make any profit from selling motors. Therefore, in practice, the consumable cost related to the motor is essentially close to zero.

Also If you do hourly testing with trident and reagent you will be spending a fortune on reagents .

We charge only the at-cost price for the first motor replacement after the warranty period — approximately $11 per motor. The same policy applies to the pH probe.

In practical terms, after about 18 months of use, the total replacement cost for both components is roughly $44, which remains very reasonable considering the system is capable of testing and dosing every hour.

In addition, we continuously improve the device through OTA firmware updates, allowing users to benefit from new features over time — such as absolute pH calibration, three selectable dosing modes, and other functional enhancements.

Combined with our commitment to responsive after-sales support, we believe this long-term value, continuous development, and service commitment are the key reasons why customers continue to choose and trust our products.

Here are the advantages of using Aquawiz:

1. We do not profit from consumables. We provide replacement parts at cost, unlike many other companies.

2. Accuracy. Our system delivers reliable and consistent measurements.

3. Premium after-sales support. Customers can always reach us — we are accessible and responsive.

4. Continuous updates and optimization. We consistently improve the system and introduce new features, rather than treating it as a one-time product sale. In that sense, we are more like Tesla — constantly evolving through innovation.

All good points Anand!

After a full 24 hours with it, It is testing consistently and the noise is pretty quiet compared to other testers. I’ll have it start dosing all for reef next week. I have been watching the dry dosing compared to the Reef factory Kh keeper. I need to get a feel for the max dosing per hour in the app before I turn it loose.

I'm a month into the Aquawiz, so far the results speak for themselves. Its spot on. Their customer service is top-tier, as I had a couple of questions. I was a skeptic at first, but, every morning i compare my alk readings to my Hanna checker, Trident and Aquawiz, all are within .10 most of the time. I'll follow up after 3 months for a full review, but so far, so good. (don't mind the swing, i ran out of sodium bicarbonate, it has since been corrected.)

I have also passed a month using my Aquawiz. I have been extremely happy with it. Test results match Salifert and Hanna and two weeks using automatic dosing has tighter tolerances vs Reef factory. It has been on par with my old alkatronic and dosetronic minus the reagent and constant calibration, which is a huge win!

Dosing all for reef and testing at 3 hour intervals seems perfect which collectorcorals recommended. We will see long term how it holds up. I purchased extra pumps to keep on hand.

The only hangup is the build quality for the money. If it stays reliable and consistent with my Sps, I can look past that:)

Thank you. I already talked to you through your website. It was a bug corrected the next day by Aquawiz. My Aquawiz has been performing very well with zero intervention.

Still seeing reports of flucutating dkh readings when the unit is installed in locations with fluctuating CO2 levels - some have installed the unit in a sealed box to help combat this. The fact that no one is addressing this is concerning, there is 100% an issue there.

This only affects the reading for about one hour when there is a sudden and dramatic CO2 change. There are several ways to reduce or solve this issue, for example extending the air intake tube to the same outdoor air line used by the protein skimmer.

Also, KH monitoring is intended more for observing long-term trends and stability. If there is only one incorrect reading within a 24-hour period, we consider that to be acceptable.

Hi Anand, are you able to let me know if the air intake on the Gen5 unit can be connected to a length of airline which is run outside to always draw fresh and stable air in for each test?

I really do want to try this unit again but need a plan to deal with flucutations resulting from ambient CO2 swings.

Any advice much appreciated.

Yes you can, make sure you use slightly bigger diameter to reduce drag till close to inlet and reduce to fit the airline .
