@Randy Holmes-Farley I just started dosing this in my 20 gallon on 3/29. My starting tank Alk was 9(my target). I dosed 5 ml a day, and yesterday, my alk had dropped to 7.5 over a few days. I left it at that, and upped the dose to 8 ml. This morning, my alk is 7.6. So, it looks like 8ml may be close to the dose i need to maintain steady alk. My question is, can i use my baking soda solution to bump my alk up to 8.6 today (i wont bump it more than 1 dkh in a day), and then also dose the 8 ml of AFR to hold it steady at 8.6? If i just dose the baking soda, the tank is going to deplete overnight back down into the 7's. Or, should i keep doing only AFR, 8 ml, or maybe 9ml, and see if the alk slowly creeps up to 9, and then slightly back off the dose to try and hold it there. Im worried that it will overdose the calcium if i use the AFR to raise alk. From what ive read, you dont use afr to raise, just maintain

I’d up to 10 mL a day and then watch. :)

There’s no concern overfishing calcium from this plan. A 1 dKH rise only boosts calcium by 7 ppm.
