So before anyone else gives you advice on dosing. Let's go to what started all this.
You unplugged a device without unplugging it from the wall. The power cord fell in your tank and went unnoticed for, per your words, 15-20 minutes. At such point, you noticed it and pulled the wire out (not a wise choice unless you unplugged it prior to grabbing it). It was then you noticed the end of the cord appeared melted. It was melted because the electrical current was working as it should. In a nutshell, you were discharging electricity into your tank and shocking the inhabitants. You are honestly lucky that only the tip of the cord melted, it could have been MUCH worse.
Spot on my friend but I wasn’t thinking electrical discharge because the fish and inverts are ok
More so that the plating contains something nasty ?

No corals have melted just retracted , at this moment some zoas are starting to open

This happened this morning correct?
And why do you think they are retracted?

So would you keep the afr constant or reduce it to be safe?
I mean will the stonies continue consumption as normal but just the polyps are upset?

I add AFR once a day in the morning. Spreading it out in the morning is fine, but it consumes O2 so I would not spread it out all night.

Why would my o2 deplete during the night with caluerpa growing on 24/7

@Troylee
What are your thoughts brother?
Guess I missed something? I thought we were talking about all for reef and now it’s melted cords in the tank? If that’s the case stray voltage wouldn’t really hurt the tank Inhabitants “bird on a wire” deal.. the copper and melted plug would thou.

AFR consumes O2. Most tanks will have an O2 minimum at night, just like they have a pH minimum then.

There’s copper in the coating ?
Will carbon remove it?
Wouldn’t my snails have chocked?

This is what happened and the cause of his concern. It's not necessarily the AFR dosing. This is my response after reading his "emergency" thread he posted shortly before posting this one.

This all started from him dropping a power cord that wasn't unplugged in his sump and didn't notice it for 15-20 mins later. When he pulled the cord out, there was a 'puff of smoke' and the tip was melted.

It was a plugged in power cord from a piece of his equipment, not like a cracked cord.

I do it every night at 11:30 9ml a day started with 5 ml and the when I got to about to 9 that's when the alk stays the same. Should I not be dosing once a night. It's been like that for. About 6 months
