Just bought the 160 used from a guy, and went to take it apart and clean it up. I am trying get the bottom bubble plate screwed back into the pump. No matter how or where I start to screw it on, it tightens down opposite of the position it needs to be in, and if I keep twisting it slips off the threads. Is it possible that I have stripped the threads??!! Because I cannot seem to get it to tighten up, and the result is a loose bubble plate and a gap allowing big bubbles which will not work.

Anybody have experience with this?

Try screwing it in, without the bubble plate in place, see if that helps. If not, I'd say either the screw or the female threads have been stripped. Also, do you have the bubble plate installed correctly? There is a top and bottom. Around the outer edge, of the bubble plate pieces, there a "step" that faces down.

You can't screw it in without the bottom section of the bubble plate in place. And yes it is installed correctly. This is definitely a thread issue. I think I may have stripped it myself, and will have to replace the pump....or the bubble plate...???

I was thinking a small rubber flange might help, or there was one that I didn't notice when I took it apart. idk
