Its all fun and games until someone brings up the fact that the 1918 spanish flu (H1N1) infected 1/3 of the worlds population, killed 50 million world wide and over 650,000 here in the US.

High mortality rates in healthy people from ages 20 to 40 was a special characteristic of that pandemic.

Its a complete reality what were facing and if you arent concerned, do you think its really morally correct to be making fun of how serious this should be taken?

I hope to god none of you get affected by this horrible virus. And I hope to god it goes away as fast as it came.

Comparing medical care from 1918 to today, is crazy.
Theres not much more cutting edge technology available for the flu, a lot of it is the same principles. We have found a vaccine for H1N1 that keeps the death toll lower but its still killing a lot of people.
Affecting the numbers even moreso was hygene. And thats even questionable if its any better in the world today.....
Do you wash your hands everytime you touch your face on average 3000x a day?

I know I sure dont!

Another angle that helps today is simple communication. The whole world knows about this and has for a couple months. 100 years ago that was not possible.

Someone posted earlier - SARS, zika, bird flu, swine flu, etc. The alarmist mentality is not necessary. People should do what they can to prevent, sure, but at the same time you need to live your life.

Deliberately causing distress in another human is called something else than humour, I am sure.

Perhaps her child had measles in the contagious stage and she actually just wiped after herself to be nice.

Freedom under responsibility, sure, so when people are informed that something will kill strangers, they need to not go on doing it.
