Am I making my fish aggressive somehow?!

She got a 300gallon tank guys.

A larger gallon tank with very few fish can actually “cause” (lead to) more aggression.

For fish competing over meaty foods I use a turkey baster and blow some to one side for my boisterous fish. Then while they are busy, I blow a smaller amount on the opposite side for the timid or slow fish.

Or just pour it into the powerhead. Disperse the food throughout the tank without futzing with baster.

Something that helped chill my kole tang was hanging a mirror on the side of the tank with yarn, which allowed it to wobble around ever so slightly thanks to my large ceiling fan. The kole turned his aggression to the mirror for several weeks before relaxing. I removed the mirror at that point and its been well behaved ever since. I also stopped finding fish in my overflow the day the mirror went in.

All the tips above are great. Here is another I read somewhere in one of @4FordFamily 's** posts.-
Try adding food in a different spot in addiion to the normal spot. So for me, my angel loved meaty foods & loved to pick on the nori clip. I added an extra nori clip per **his tip. It helped tremendously & they all settled down.

I actually just started doing this yesterday as I notice all my fish hang out on one end of a 6 foot tank! It seems to be helping. Everyone got along well yesterday.

I have an acclimation box, I just didn't think to utilize it. I did when I tried another small angel. The Watanabei was NOT amused. The new angel never got released into my tank. I just didn't think this would be such a problem! I will be using it for all new additions going forward! That might be awhile though...this is too much stress! :rolleyes:;Nailbiting:D

I have found that the best way to have stress-free, peaceful fish is to feed them a bunch mostly with Pellet food in autofeeders and have plenty of places for them to feel secure. I am not really talking about the "caves" and "hideouts" that people like to make, but simply stacking rock into piles so that they can get between them, behind them and totally out of sight and feel secure.

I have had many Watanabei over the years and they have never been aggressive. My current male will chase a large Male Bellus around a bit, but they do no harm and they both get their full at feeding time.

It maybe isn´t aggression at all. If you dont have female watanabeis there is a risk he is seeing the pearlscale as a female. Most people knows how it is to be harrased from another species. A dog clinging on your´leg is´nt very funny but imagine the dog would be double your size...
